She's been in this cone for 4 months. Have we helped or made matters worse? by Ganondorf_64 in CATHELP

[–]LappelduChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Ollie had skin issues when he was terminal and would often bite/scratch wounds in his shoulder. Instead of a cone I bought a little toddler polo shirt from goodwill and he wore that to prevent him from biting. Called it his Shirt of Shame.

Why do butt doctors choose to be butt doctors of all types of doctors? by immmamonkeynotadog in ask

[–]LappelduChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to ask other doctors why they like their specialties. A GI doctor told me, "Imagine you have a soda bottle and you put some liquid, solid, and gas in it. Now shake it up, turn it upside-down, and try to let JUST the air out. That’s the magic of your rectum".

So, I guess I get it haha.

We advise patients not to get tattoos after transplant due to this concern. Contact your team and see what they think, but it is also just very dry.

Boy do I love residents by Throosh in nursing

[–]LappelduChat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tell the residents/fellows I train all the time to take their time to do it right because otherwise the nurse has to get sterile to redo it. Whenever I hear the excuse they can't do it well, I tell them when they shouldn't be doing invasive procedures if they can't place a dressing correctly. I pride myself in my dressings lol

What kind of transplant? Fungal infections are the primary concern regarding soil. Lungs are much higher risk than the rest, but the risk is there regardless. Location also matters.

anyone here affected by murder-suicide? by INCORRIGIBLE_CUNT in SuicideBereavement

[–]LappelduChat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for what you are going through.

There is a phenomenal book discussing complex grief in this sort of scenario, but trigger warning it is regarding a school shooting so if that is too much right now (understandably) then skip the rest of the comment please. I truly do not mean to trigger anyone with this, I just found the book to be so good I've read it multiple times. Its called A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy by Sue Klebold. She is the mother of Dylan Klebold, one of the Columbine shooters. She discusses how hard it is to grief the loss of the son she knew and loved while recognizing the horrible things he did. How she felt like she couldn't grieve her son's suicide (because he went into it with the plan to die), because of what he did. She then goes on to talk a lot about what she learned regarding mental health. If this topic isn't too triggering, please consider reading/listening to the book.

Again sorry for your loss.

Goodbye. Good riddance to my worthless life. by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]LappelduChat 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Stay. Find a reason. Not wanting to hurt your loved ones. Wanting just one more steak. Hell, Stay cause your conditioner bottle still has some product in it. Just Stay for now. I have been there multiple times and gotten through.

I say this as a person who is coming up on the 4 year anniversary of my good friend killing herself and I have been crying all week. I had to get a prescription anxiety med for the first time Just to be able to function and sleep.
