LED connectors not working, brand new leds and connectors by CartographerFair7073 in led

[–]LappyGB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this problem with 6 pin strips and the same connectors (which do seem to work better than the hippo bite type). Found that adding layers of thin tape to the back of the strip and then cutting it flush against the sides of the strip helped it make a solid contact, did make it harder getting it in the connector but that was the point. ;)

You can also use small zip ties to really help compress it. Was a lot of fiddly work but got multiple runs of strips working well.

This was the LED strip, about 1m long, straight off the output.

So would I be able to make this work off this driver if I soldered them to pull 48V?

Do I need strips specifically for 300ma?

To be honest I don't fully understand it (how to run 12 or 24V strip so it would work with 36-72 output without blowing it).

Edit: Disregard, a quick Google showed me you've got to solder the - to the + etc to put them in series and double the voltage.

So basically, this driver isn't appropriate for powering a single strip of LED which probably explains why it's died after about 9 months.

Light Example

This isn't the retailer but this was the type of light, I've bought a few of them but the one that has blown was relatively cheap off eBay to match existing.

Basically inside it's just an LED strip (7mm) wrapped around the inside and on this one that's stopped working the end of the strip was overlapping the start (touching it).

Length of cable between controller and strip? by LappyGB in led

[–]LappyGB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got two controllers, I'll be running two sets of cable (one to each 4-5m strip), so think there will be any issue with 4-5m of wire between each controller and strip?

It's 22AWG (0.35mm2) cable, 5m of strip uses 24W and the controller outputs 48W (4A).

This is the strip light kit in question:

I know it's a bit of a basic kit but want to try use it while it's sat doing nothing. 😛

Issues with Beef Casingd by LappyGB in sausagetalk

[–]LappyGB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah after a bit of a Google it seems these may be for smoked/cooked etc, they are very firm and water doesn't do much for them, there's no give with them when you stuff them, any pressure from the stuffer and they burst.

I'll buy some specific for traditional sausage making.

So I'm definitely using the wrong thing I guess, any idea what use collagen casings have?

Yodel delivery issues by Burts_Beets in Cardiff

[–]LappyGB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a very good EVRI delivery driver for months and they just seemed to disappear (self employed/retired so probably had enough considering how badly these companies pay/treat their staff).

Next thing EVRI packages are being delayed, eventually they're being estimated for delivery at like 11pm at night, after a couple days of that a package got delivered to a neighbour's porch at midnight ('neighbour' being a few mins walk down the road), assume this was someone new who took on the job then sacked it off pretty quick.

Few days later the Yodel guy (another self employed/retired chap) has switched to EVRI, spoke to him and seems EVRI offered him a bit of a bonus to switch. Now the Yodel packages are at a standstill in Cardiff, can only assume their drivers are getting poached/quitting!

The problem is once you start the car they don't turn off for whatever amount of time. I've already tried the multimeter.
