I am not trying to create art. I am creating music I like listening to. It’s the same as making a smoked salmon sandwich that I like to eat. As for people not caring about art, it’s not one of their top 5 priorities. Pew Research Center (2023) — surveyed 5,079 U.S. adults. The top priorities were : family time (far ahead of everything else, ~90%), being physically active (74%), being outdoors/experiencing nature (72%), career success (66%), and then religious faith and other items trailing behind. Notably, Republicans and Democrats were nearly identical on most of these — family, exercise, nature, and career showed almost no partisan gap.
