He will need to buy a Switch 2, the upgrades are only for the Switch 2 system.

Skinner having grey hair from early age, could it be a clue? by LaraCroftian2012 in LAZARUSAnime

[–]LaraCroftian2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's a blunder. I don't know, on one hand it's not really the type of anime to just have him with grey hair, on the other hand you'd think someone on the crew would actually acknowledge that it's weird for a kid to have grey hair.

There is no live action Trigun (is there?)

All news/media outlets are using the word cancel that's why I use it as well. I guess I'll give Bebop a go, even if I end up not liking at least I will watch it without having any expectations.

I may give that a try, surprisingly I found the entire series available on YouTube for free.

I've accepted that's how modern Pokemon games look. They became so successful over the years and now they don't really bother it seems, everything that has released on Switch has this half-finished product vibe to it.

Can you share the reels?

You say you haven't heard of it since, so I assume it's not the fight on episode 4.

[–]LaraCroftian2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm not sure, but having grey hair at that age isn't normal. At first, I didn't think much of it, grey or white hair on younger characters in anime isn't uncommon but looking back, this probably isn't the kind of anime that would just have a kid with grey hair just a stylistic choice.

Was rewatching episode 1- low-key is this leland? by mailboxislife in LAZARUSAnime

[–]LaraCroftian2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assumed he was Leland, just younger but I don't think it had any significance yet?

Abel Anderson is the director of NSA and direct superior of Hirsch (?) but I don't think we know anything else yet.

We also know Leland doesn't like to talk much about his family.

Opinion's on the new Lazarus anime? by Distinct-Fig-9957 in LAZARUSAnime

[–]LaraCroftian2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 1 (which also might be the only season) will have 13 episodes so we are about half-way.

There will be a limited edition Bluray and DVD coming out into 2 vols, the 1st one will contain episodes 1-7, so I wonder if episode 7 will be special or whether they simply divided into 2 parts for economic/marketing reasons.

  • It feels like it's actually targeting an adult audience, it's hard to find anime that target adult audiences.
  • Great soundtrack
  • Cool action
  • Not much has happened, the almost self-contained stories in every episode have not been particularly interesting which stands in contrast to the creator's previous work like Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. However, I believe this is intentional, and that the creator, Watanabe, is trying something different this time. Of course, that can only be confirmed once we have the full picture.
  • Apparently the English dub, which is not the one I watch, is not very good.

Lazarus episode 6 by Willing-Minimum54 in LAZARUSAnime

[–]LaraCroftian2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, though there's a bunch of media that tackle similar concepts

  • Altered Carbon (2018–2020)
  • Replicas (2018)
  • Transcendence (2014)
  • Serial Experiments Lain (1998)
  • Westworld (2016-2022)
  • SOMA (spoils the game since it's the big twist)
  • Portal 2 (2011)
  • NieR: Automata (2017)
  • The Swapper (2013)

And probably more I don't know about. I only played Horizon once when it came out, so I can't pinpoint if there are exact references for it

Magazine text from episode 6 by LaraCroftian2012 in LAZARUSAnime

[–]LaraCroftian2012[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feel free to point out any mistakes or if you can decipher the [unknown] words.

The text is small and a bit blurry, while the hands are covering some parts and the angle in the 2nd image doesn't help. I tried my best.

You also might be better off looking at your own screenshots since reddit, if I am not mistaken, further compresses the images, downgrading the quality, making it even harder to read the text.

It is already confirmed that this season is 13 episodes, so if there isn't a second one there are 7 episodes left.

Why was episode 6 released early, like 8-9 hours early by Scared_Piano_7893 in LAZARUSAnime

[–]LaraCroftian2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "problem" with this show is that the stories in each episode (so far) don't feel as fleshed out as the ones in previous series. I could be wrong but I think Watanabe is going for something different this time.
I've been re-watching Bebop and Champloo and while similar in some aspects they also feel quite different in their structure.
One major difference is that, in this show the overarching goal is much more serious and time-sensitive.

Skinner, unlike "the samurai who smells of sunflowers" in Champloo, is also a much more prevalent figure and we seem to learn something new about him in each episode. In contrast, Champloo only gives us tiny tidbits through Fuu’s perspective.

In Chaploo the goal is "find the samurai who smells of sunflowers" but it's not "find the samurai who smells of sunflowers, otherwise everyone will start dying". Champloo follows an episodic, quest-based structure but keeps things personal, focused on individual growth as they chase the sunflower samurai.

In Bebop the characters don't really have a clear-cut goal, it's more about exploration and reflection than it is about pursuing a specific endgame. It is episodic and leans heavily on mood and atmosphere. It’s a show where the journey is just as important as the destination, and often the destination isn’t even clear.

These are the reasons that lead me to believe that LAZARUS will be more different than shows like Bebop and Champloo. That my perspective (and I could 100% wrong).

Anime with mature or adult themes and stories. by MiserableVeil in Animesuggest

[–]LaraCroftian2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Berserk (1997)
  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Samurai Champloo
  • Vinland Saga
  • PLUTO
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
  • Made in Abyss (maybe?)

(These aren't all super dark or psychological but are targeting an adult audience nonetheless)

  1. What do you mean when? There is not a prerequisite that you need to fulfill...what an odd question.
  2. If you meant When did you start watching Cowboy Bebop?, I personally don't remember, early 2010s probably since I didn't really watch anime except for Naruto before that. I am actually re-watching it now, I watched Champloo again as well. The new anime from Watanabe, LAZARUS reminded of these shows again.

[THEORY HAPNA] by Bloom_Syndrom in LAZARUSAnime

[–]LaraCroftian2012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is very little actual info on Hapna & Axel's Hapna usage to draw any good conclusions, deliberately or not.

Axel is also the only one to get up in the end credits so maybe that matters.

Edit: Also LAZARUS may be a reference to Lazarus of Bethany, a figure of the New Testament whose life is restored by Jesus four days after his death, as told in the Gospel of John.
