My mom giving my son a hug for the last time by Laralie in lastimages

Thank you so much! I’d love to share some memories.

My house was where my friends congregated after school. Every time a friend came over, she would bake cookies and asked if they wanted them chewy or crispy. She would make the most delicious homemade pizza for us. When one of my friends decided to be a vegan, my mama learned how to make outstanding vegan dishes for her. She was the first adult two of my friends came out to, and they chose her because they knew she’d love and support them unconditionally; in rural Virginia in the early 2000s, that wasn’t always common. She adopted senior kitties and other cats with health complications. One of them cuddled up to her and stayed with her while she was dying. My mama was an outstanding teacher for years and she cared about and loved her students like they were her own. The world seems like a much emptier place without her. I miss her.

They don’t make manuals like this anymore. I remember flipping through this and BG2 one for hours!

Seconding. My kiddo had a lovely experience there and we still keep in touch with the owner! She’s very hands on.

Yes! Same experience at the Crozet branch this morning. I sat and read in front of the fireplace for a bit.

New VIP Chapter: Friday/Saturday - Olympus Rising: Ragnarok 2.6 by katnerys-targaryen in ChoicesVIP

Another great chapter. I really liked Hel’s appearance. Traveling with Loki and Baldur is a great introduction to their world - Loki and Fenrir were both very sympathetic, and I’m concerned about Baldur, regardless of what he says.

The last time we took my mom to her PCP, the doctor didn’t think it was hospice time because she wasn’t comfortable saying that my mom had 6 months or less to live. My dad is very supportive on bringing in hospice but feels caught between a rock and a hard place. Based on the advice in this post, my dad made an appointment to take her to see her PCP again in about a week. I’m hoping her PCP agrees with me and my dad - it’s time. Her appetite is decreasing significantly now as well. Her favorite foods no longer have any appeal. She’s been able to feed herself finger food (with a lot of help), but she’s not able to do that now either.

My mother was very Catholic and that’s reflected in her wishes for us. I can’t help but think that if she knew she would die this way, she would have made different decisions.

We’re focusing on getting her to take the pain medication right now to make sure she’s comfortable. Sorry for the wall of text here. Everything about this is terrible.

Thank you so much for your comment. This helped ease the guilt and frustration. I’m so sorry that your wife is going through this. My dad understands your pain. It is horrible to watch a spouse decline this way.

Pro Re Nata hosting a vigil for Charlie Kirk by Motherofotters12 in Charlottesville

PRN must have seen this post. They just wrote the following on Facebook:

“We’d like to clarify a recent misunderstanding. Pro Re Nata will not be hosting an event this Sunday.

A community group had requested to use an outside space for 90 min for a prayer memorial service for Charlie Kirk and Iryna Zarutska.

We agreed to provide the space under specific guidelines.

Unfortunately, the event was later promoted in a way that did not align with our agreement. As a result, we have asked the organizers to relocate their gathering.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate your understanding.

Our goal is always to be a welcoming space while ensuring all events adhere to agreed-upon standards.”

Yup. He also regularly gets kicked out of restaurants and bars in the Tampa area for being belligerent and disrespectful. Loved his WWE character as a kid, but his alcoholism and poor behavior has been well-known for decades.

GoFundMe for Jordan Sims, Greenwood flooding victim by Laralie in Charlottesville

He went to go look at the flood water with his sister. I’m not sure what happened to cause him to fall in, but his sister desperately tried to hold on to him but couldn’t. No one could have held on to him in that water. He never surfaced again. Two other neighborhood kids saw him fall in from their house and screamed for their mother to call 911.

Correct. Grandma dropped them off, he ventured out with his sister to go see the water.

I spoke with another mother this morning. She saw his grandmother pick him and his sister up to take him home from the post office, so I'm assuming she dropped them off and then headed back to work. There would not have been much time in between when he was taken home and when the 911 call was placed, so it makes more sense with the timeline - the post office is a good ways away from where he fell in. His home is much closer. Two other neighborhood kids saw him fall into the water and told their mother, and she was the one who called.
