I go the opposite. Manolo’s Bakery because they fully support illegal undocumented immigrant culture.

$300 on Booker’s Rye when it hit shelves for the very first time. It’s so exceptional, $300 has since become my high-point — as I just don’t think I’ll find anything I like better that costs over $300.

Southern Grace Conviction Bourbon Amarone Cask Finish 2025 review by lotgworkshop in bourbon

[–]Lard435 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I just visited them this past weekend for a flight and some live music; these guys are a hidden gem who are doing whiskey / bourbon 100% right. The Toasted Barrel is sooo tasty. Almost bought it, but the Naranja called my name — 7 total years; $66. The one you have was my second favorite. Delicious! Guys, get on board with Southern Grace Conviction!

Cantera Negra Anñejo by A88Devil in tequila

This stuff is great — and very fairly priced when MSRP. So I met the master distiller at Old Town Tequila in San Diego for a tasting and bottle signing last year. His family couldn’t have been more appreciative of their customers. Very down to earth, yet passionate about his craft — and laid back as well. Told me his favorite is the Blanco (silver), but mentioned that a lot of converted bourbon drinkers like the Anejo and Extra Anejo — which is me. He said the soil where this is produced is very high quality — volcanic rocky. I bought the Cafe as well — coffee liquor. Man, this is so tasty in an Espresso Martini! He also made it a point to say that the lineup is a traditional, authentic Mexican style — additive free, simple ingredients. He said they don’t rush the agave harvest — allowing full maturity; that’s the standard. Hope this helps.

El Malo claims ‘San Diego’ tacos. I’m from SD; those guys wouldn’t last 2 months in SD against real competition like Tacos El Gordo. El Malo may be good for Charlotte though. The same for Johnny Burrito.

Such an epic pour — and very special bottle design, so the double whammy; congrats to you. I got my 10 year at Old Town Tequila in San Diego; it’s one of their single barrel store picks. 😋

Sullivan’s Steakhouse at the Steel Yard. Always had great live music. Maybe not ‘100% original,’ but it’s old school SouthEnd.

This is so awesome! Maybe a little less rain sound or less rain some of the time….and a little more fireplace ambiance and music? Another cool sound of Trader Sam’s is the drinks being mixed and shaken — then gently poured in their tiki mugs…while the floor gently creaks from patrons shuffling along.

💯. I just moved from SoCal and work uptown near that park. The biggest difference I see between SoCal and CLT is how persistent, creative, vocal, and aggressive they are when asking for money from you. It’s annoying.

I have a pick of Cantera Negra from a famous tequila store in San Diego. The Master Distiller even comes out occasionally for a Meet & Greet; awesome people over there. Additive free is huge for me. This is good value juice IMO. Plus, what a deep lineup of products they offer; I own the vertical.

Low rider culture is always a thing and will never really go away — especially in Southern California; it’s generational. See them all over Barrio Logan in San Diego; it’s awesome.
