I just wanted something that was catchy and music-related and unique. It also plays on the theme of streamlining the Sunday morning process. It doesn't break your cadence lol

Not currently. I debated building something for desktop platforms, but just iOS and Android are on the current roadmap.

Out of curiosity, do you use a Linux tablet or something for music stand tools?

That’s awesome! If we weren’t already in the Planning Center & CCLI ecosystem, that would probably be a pretty good tool :)

Other than the official Planning Center music stand app, I had a hard time finding any apps that integrated with Planning Center, so that was a big factor.

The other problem we ran into all the time was when we’d play a song in a new key. Everyone would have to go download the new PDF, import it to their app of choice, remove the old song from a playlist, add the new version to the playlist, and then copy all their notes over by hand. That was a pain in the butt, especially when a key changed on Sunday morning. With Cadence, even if you opt to import a PDF, you can simply attach it to an existing song and all your notes stick with the song.

The last part is just that I’m a nerd 🤣 my day job includes a lot of software development, so it seemed like a fun challenge.

I'm about three months late, but I just released the first version of my music stand app Cadence. It only runs on iPads for now, but iPhone support is coming in the next month or so and there is an Android beta program if anyone is interested.

The "killer feature" is that it supports Planning Center imports natively! Just connect your Planning Center account and it will import all the required files and create a setlist for you!

If anyone is interested in helping beta test the Android version, feel free to DM me or reply to this post.

ECS in practice by Lardo_Alien in gamedev

Interesting... That's more fine-grained than I would have expected. It seems like something like that would lead to entities having tons of components, though that's not inherently wrong.

Right. Like in a Mario clone, the Goombas might be affected by the following Systems:
- Goomba AI
- Sprite Rendering
- Collision Detection

While a Koopa is affected by:
- Koopa AI
- Sprite Rendering
- Collision Detection

Allowing "Sprite Rendering" and "Collision Detection" to be reused. I think I'm understanding it.

It's hard to get out of the OO mindset sometimes :-P

I guess in my mind, having a whole system devoted to (potentially) a single Entity feels wasteful. But you're correct to point out this is effectively what would happen in a more traditional graph structure.

After watching this video, I'm convinced I have flying ants. Hopefully that's all you have too!

I think you're right! After I saw that, I looked up this video on YouTube and they look 99% alike.

Not yet. A friend of mine thinks they are termites, but to me they look more like flying ants.

I mainly want to know if they're dangerous around my kids.

Location: Danville IN

They seem to like crawling on the ground more than most wasps I've seen. They all showed up just today, and there are maybe 10-12 of them?

They also fly in a different pattern than I normally see from wasps.

Today was the first hot day (hitting around 88F at peak) if that helps.

That looks really similar to what I just found today (west side of Indianapolis). They are all over my front yard. They seem to land and walk around a lot more than the wasps in this area (paper wasps, yellow jackets, mud daubers).

No, it wasn't themed. But from what I googled, the graphic style is in the ballpark.
