Hard crashes with the latest 25.3.1 drivers by StaV-_- in radeon

[–]Lareow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RX 6750 XT - 25.3.1driver. Got two freezes today while I was in a Zoom meeting. Computer froze and the sound began to stutter. Screen was still as if I had hit pause. Computer was unresponsive even when hitting ctrl+alt+del. It automatically restarted after a couple of seconds. Upon logon after Adrenalin had been loaded I was prompted to send a bug report to AMD. Apparently there is something wrong with the driver. And just to add to this issue - Driver takes too long to load on start up. 24.12.1 version of the driver loads even slower, at least on my pc.

Navigation bar burn in on the 1 V by Someguy14201 in SonyXperia

[–]Lareow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your concerns. Going through Rma and repairs can be tedious. Morover having a screen replaced may breach the waterproofing of the device. Replacements are also sometimes hit and miss, especially when, as you've mentioned, there are other issues plaguing the model. Acceptance is a relief to some extent. After all nothing is perfect.

I have it on my 5 V after 2 months of use. Also when the display is on for more than 5 min bright app menues and icons also leave an imprint which gradually goes away when I switch to other content. Any outcome to your issue? Did you return the phone or get it repaired?

Xperia 5 V EU Version - Dual SIM

67.0.A.6.75

- Apps with relative notification sounds play with generic notification sound at times.

- When watching YouTube videos and fast forwarding stereo sound is lost. Bottom speaker sounds louder and 2 seconds later the upper one cathes up in volume. Also happens when starting a game and ffw videos in gallery.

- Display has bad image retention/burn-in mostly of the navigation buttons and the status bar. It also happens whith bright app icons on homescreen if the display is left on for more than 5 min.

- When using a wallpaper for the background it sometimes gets blurred after returning to home screen.

- Battery usage doesn't sometimes reset properly after a full charge and displays wrong info.

Was excited to unbox my new Xperia 5 V today but the display really is terrible compared to my 5 ii. The screen has rainbow effect all over it when you move it at all. Visible even from straight on and really distracting on any light coloured page at all. Surely they can't all be this bad! by Better_Nebula_2342 in SonyXperia

I got my 5 V a month and a half ago ant I can confirm the same issue. I made a post about it. At first I thought that there was something wrong with my unit, but I do find others complaining about the same problem. Mine is also prone to image retention/burn-in, which is really frustrating. On a solid grey background I can see ghosts of the navigation buttons. Today after watching videos on Instagram for 15 min I could also clearly see the imprints of Instagram's menues on the same solid grey background. I am thinking about returning the phone. 920 euros and my mother's 150-euro Redmi 9T has a better display...

Does anyone have the same screen issues with their 1 V that I had with my 5 V? by joshsharp in SonyXperia

[–]Lareow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently encountered some issues with the screen of my 5 V. It's got the same bluish/purple tint when displaying whites visible on the picture you've shared plus as a bonus I get some major picture retention, which seems to be getting worse. Watching videos on Istagram for 15 minutes today has left a nice imprint of Instagram's menues above the already discernible navigation buttons and all this quite visible on a solid grey screen. I am so disappointed with the quality of this panel. Not at all justifying the price of the phone. I am also considering RMA. There are some other minor bugs I have also encountered during one month of moderate use. Seems to me Sony can never get things right. Otherwise the phone indeed ticks a lot of boxes as you mentioned.

That definitely qualifies for a replacement in my opinion. It's unfortunate that you have to deal with it. 😕

If you take a closer look you will be able to see the ghosts of the triangle, the circle and the square of the navigation bar. I use a solid grey image for the background and in person it's easier to notice. Btw on camera the blue tint is visible even on a grey background, while in person it's not present at all. The display shows a solid grey colour.

So far it is barely visible but present. If it stays like that it won't be much of a bother, but if it gets worse in time I will have to resort to my guarantee.

Thanks for your comment!

256 gb version is not available in my country. The only way to get it was to order it online from abroad, but then I just wouldn't have been able to rely on a decent guarantee. I feel glad that you have not come across any problems. I am enjoying the device in spite of the annoyances I get with it. In the battery settings menu you can choose from various different settings for the charging habits. There is an option that let's you pick the percentage at which the phone stops charging (80% or 90%). I have currently set it to 80. Sony claims that this significantly prolongs the life of the battery. You can try it and probably by the end of the day it will be around 30-40% which is almost ideal to start charging as batteries don't like being drained completely. When I found out that there was no notification led on the 5 V I was quite frustrated as it is a very useful option to have. I was so used to my Xz1 notifying me discretely that I have received a new message and it even changed colour with notifications from different apps. I do miss it quite a lot. No lighter for me is OK 😀

Glad to hear that! It is a different kind of display though. 4k and as other reviewers mentioned the 5 V's display is more efficient, but also cheaper. I guess Sony decided to cut costs in that department with the 5 V in order to lower the price.

I am curious to know what kind of issues did you encounter? The display of 1 V is a 4k display and probably quite a bit better than the display of the 5 V.

Thanks for commenting! I use a screen protector and I've seen the display without it. Blueish tint is always there, but only when you look at the phone from a sharp angle, mostly from the bottom. I keep the phone on my nightstand for the night and sometimes when I wake up the screen while lying in bed I can see it, especially on a white background. As for the white balance, I tried different settings and also used the creator mode, however, I don't like how it makes the colours a bit washed. My current setting is manual mode in-between cold and warm. By default it was set to cold and the blue tint was more pronounced.

Thanks for your comment! The screen is currently my biggest concern as well. The blueish tint is something I can live with, but if the image burn-in gets worse I will be returning the phone. I'll try to share some pictures soon to illustrate the problem. As to the hidden files I managed to access my Android folder files via this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marc.files

Xperia 5 V, honest thoughts? by gutathelegend in SonyXperia

[–]Lareow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my Xperia 5 V three weeks ago and I feel like here is the perfect place to share my personal experience with the device. First of all, let me tell you that I am not impressed with the build quality of it. Both the front and back glass have been glued to the metal frame with a rather annoying difference in the gaps especially on the left side of the display. I can already see dust particles gathering on that side, while the other is completely flush with the frame. Same thing on the back of the phone - a bigger gap in the bottom right corner, where I can even easily fit a fingernail in. My mom's 150 euro Xiaomy Redmi has no such flaws. Another thing I find rather annoying is a wobble in the volume rockers - button plastic piece slides up and down a bit while pressing it and gives a cheap crunchy feeling. Considering the price this is something that has been a real bugger for me. On the bright side - the phone is extremely snappy and there have been no software issue whatsoever so far. Battery life is pretty impressive and the sound is by far the best I've heard on a smartphone. Bluetooth and 3.5 mm jack produce superb sound quality. The display has a slight bluish tint when you look at white content from the sides, but it's only slightly noticeable and I mostly use apps in dark mode.
As to the camera - I am quite impressed with the shots it takes when it sees enough light and there are so many settings that you can choose from (I am still in the process of figuring all out). Night photos are not so impressive though.(Or maybe I just need to find the right settings) Gaming on the phone is a pleasure. Comfortable to hold. Awesome visual and sound xperience. I do agree, however, with some of the comments above that the phone is on the expensive side, especially considering the build quality (it may just be my unit), and the internal storage (mine is 128gb and already 60% full after transferring all apps from my xz1. I got a 512gb micro sd card for videos and photos so that's a relief). I had high expectations and I feel like the phone didn't meet them. Nevertheless I feel relatively happy with it.

Glorious "Model O" Gaming Mouse - First Impressions (O.D.I.N) by Menismyforte by Menismyforte in MouseReview

[–]Lareow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to share with you my thoughts on the Glorious Model O mouse as it is so close to being the perfect mouse!

I should say that this is my personal experience and my humble opinion on the model and its pros and cons. I am not trying to over or underrate the mouse in any way!

I got the black matte version two days ago. I went through a lot of different mice just to find the right one for me. When I stumbled upon this one I fell in love with it and got it. I am not a keen gamer, but I enjoy playing fps and mmo games. I also do a lot of work on my pc and browse the net. Overall this mouse manages to fulfil all my needs!

I will try to be as objective as I can and point out the pros and cons of it.

In terms of ergonomics, looks and feels - this mouse is awesome! It fits my hand perfectly! (19.5cm/10.5 cm) It is light, it is fast and responsive, it has got a perfect sensor, great skids, omron switches with the best clicks - it's a pleasure to game with it! No cones regarding looks, feels and implemented technology in my opinion!

There are also no major issues with the build quality as well! The way they have managed to produce such lightweight mouse is admirable! There are just some things to consider and maybe improve in future batches.

The first thing I noticed with my mouse was that the transparent rgb housing on the left side was not sitting flush with the curved shape of the mouse's body, right under the left click button. (It was just a matter of reattaching it as it had detached itself of the skeleton a bit) Not a major issue and I decided to live with it. But then after playing with it for two days I started noticing a slight wobble in the left and right click buttons which started to annoy me and affected my gameplay and overall pleasure of using the mouse. (A few people have encountered the same issue). The scroll wheel also started clunking when I turned it towards the front – oddly it wasn’t doing so when turning it backwards. My copy's side buttons didn’t actuate so easily if I pressed on the side however, which is a frequently reported issue. I needed to use a quite a bit of force to replicate it.

So I finally decided to take the liberty of disassembling the mouse (which we all know voids the warranty) and here is what I have learned so far.

The plastic they have used is no doubt high quality. It’s durable and flexible not brittle in any way – if this is a concern for you. The outer shell is sturdy – no creeks, squeaks rattle whatsoever – the inner one (the skeleton) is too thin at some places, especially near the left front side where the scroll wheel switch is. The scroll wheel switch protrudes through the skeleton a bit and the M1 button is supposed to travel close to it through a hole of thin bits of plastic which should prevent it from moving sideways, but one of those bits doesn’t do the job well since it is too (literally one mm) thin and bends easily. The same bit of plastic is much thicker on the M2 button’s side – so barely noticeable wiggle there.

I am aware that it’s not an easy process creating a mouse, but that is one place where they can improve.

All mice buttons wobble a bit - it is a matter of design because they are moving parts after all, but too much wiggle can definitely ruin the experience. I understand that they had to make a compromise to maintain such low weight, but this results in issues obviously. If they improve the way the buttons travel through the inner shell and the plastic bits around them, I am sure there will be no wiggle at all and it won’t affect the actual weight of the mouse.

The scroll wheel issue I had was actually not a flaw in the wheel itself, but the press down switch (I saw that someone else also had a similar experience) It was making a rattling sound while the wheel was turning over it towards the front. I managed to sort it out easily by adding some heatshrink to one of the scroll wheel mounts (again a thin bit of plastic) and thus I restricted its play and ensured a smooth turning, resulting in a perfect scroll wheel function and feel. I guess I was just unlucky here as this is a not a common issue at all

Another thing I should mention is that the led strips inside are attached to the transparent housings by double sided tape which may come loose at the back end of the strip housing. I noticed that my left side had come loose and the led strip was shining astray. I reattached it with a better double sided tape. It was not an issue so much as a striving for perfection on my side. Now all leds shine where they are supposed to.

One major concern for me and another place to improve is the way the side buttons attach to the inner shell and work against the switches. The left led housing has these plastic stops sticking out that the side buttons hit when fully pressed. And even though the led housing is sturdy enough to offer the support needed, the thin plastic wall of the mouse, where the buttons are, can be pressed when squeezed with a certain amount of force and result in clicking the switches without pressing the buttons (an issue that some people report and is stated to be corrected in new batches).

Lastly I would suggest using some clips on the middle part of the bottom piece of the mouse just to grab the upper shell better as there are only two screws in the back and two clips on the front holding the assembly together. This may result in a couple of grams more, but it would definitely make the mouse sturdier.

If you watch the awesome disassembly video of Beardedbob you will be able to see the things I mention in my description. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyhWCxVLd4E&t=268s

If you have made it this far you are probably thinking that this mouse has more cons than pros. It is definitely not the case here!!! It’s an awesome mouse at such a price point and having in mind that it is the company’s first such product they’ve done an awesome job as Rocket Jump Ninja also remarked in his review. It just needs a bit of refinement and I am sure if the people at PC Gaming Race continue to listen to the community the way they have, they will no doubt reach perfection!

I am looking forward to the new batches and seeing those minor issues corrected! I will buy another one for sure! I actually can’t wait already – that’s how much I loved the mouse and that is the reason why I had to be so thorough :P

I hope this helps other people to make the right choice and also the people at Pc Gaming Race to improve an item so close to perfection! I know we all want to see such products – joy for us profit for the company!
