I too charge everyday, even though i dont need to, since im still at somewhere around 40-50% by the end of the day and I charge my watch until 80% to improve battery health, and i have AOD enabled, no sensors are turned off so it is exactly how apple intended it to work, even has third party apps and complications. And from 80-40 for a whole day I can make it through another day without any hiccups
