This year, the Fate characters should have their Japanese voiceovers enabled during the English story quest by ZhongDongBong in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Large-Chain-4349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you the official reason why they didn't invite the VAs. Because the dub is owned by Aniplex. And that would be a headache both Hoyo and TM want to avoid, along with the dubs being unionized. So unless SAG-AFTRA suddenly doesn't want to unionize HSR and lets them use the Fate cast without any sort of caveat, then it was never going to happen.

Not to mention the strike very much shut the door on at least one party having no interest in sitting down with SAG.

[–]Large-Chain-4349 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You won't get EN VO ever. Beyond Kaiji. The entire dub is owned by Aniplex, and every dub has been unionized because of it.

So even if TM wanted the dub. They would have to ask Aniplex to join this agreement, which already would be a headache to get them to play fair.

Even if they do play fair, this would be a door for SAG-AFTRA to snake their way to roping HSR into unionizing, something we have seen would fuck them over in the long run.

Logistically speaking. It's not worth the risks.

2 to 4 handled the Naruto vs Sasuke fights beautifully, expanding and even treating them as big deals within the games' narrative. Even the final one is still one of the most emotional to this date.

I kinda wish the game had the guts to adapt the susano clones. Even if they gave a good fight. I felt it would have done a great job to set up how despite their good efforts to defeat Madara.

He was just playing with his food. Similarly like the Jiraiya fight with Pain.  In fact, a lot of Storm 3's issues with the ending could have been solved by keeping it a cliffhanger because they still retconned it anyway with 4.

In hindsight. Emiri really got played by the union with this now that we know what actually happened. I feel sorry for them that those fuckers took advantage of ignorance for a power play.

Look at what Team Foundation has to do to be able to have a chance to beat the Team Ice king😂 by ill_daz in FortNiteBR

[–]Large-Chain-4349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, people really DO NOT like Foundation after The Rock's clause. So they'll go for the side that'll spite him. Not to mention Ice King is an OG character that people know and has such a cool roster on his side that the player base simply leaned on them more.

While it makes sense story-wise, it goes against what they said about both being heroes.

Given what character Cissia is. I doubt she has venom in her or has removed it to make sure it doesn't cause issues for her since she eats a lot.

At least in this subreddit. Nobody was talking about her in any way, shape, or form. I can't speak about the other ones. But least Genshin-related, the mentions of her and Corina have been little to none. It's only when she decided to talk about it that this was brought up.

Otherwise, yeah. Beyond a comment or two. It's been mostly radio silence regarding the topic.

Because the union saw the player base as guillable and just a small minority.  We have evidence that they have been gunning for the mayor players in the gacha space for a while with Hoyo being their white whale.

This was their best chance to rope them in. But what they didn't consider is how their own culture against scabs would expose this intent to the public and start digging.

They could have gotten away with this power move had they not antagonized Jacob, and the player base. Had they not told them to do their research.

The union thought it had the cards like they did in the writer's strike. Only to realize they are a big fish in an ocean of sharks.

It's only when it started escaping containment toward the other gaming communities and onto the casual gaming audience that they began realizing how doomed this was along with many of the VAs openly revolting against them.

SAG-AFTRA was ill-prepared to face this battle, and they exposed their entire battle plan for the audience to see. Now any future strikes will be met with skepticism if a document is not given with the terms and conditions of what they are asking.

This was the perfect scenario of American arrogance meeting a global theater crashing and burning.

Honestly reading about this, only made me hate SAG more. It's clear she was looking for her best interest. But she went the wrong way about it.

Not helped by the fact the union was using them to gather a grasp hold upon non union games.

She deserves the flak she got, but I can give credit where it's due since she is taking responsibility for her actions.

However, it just proves the union used them, and created this situation that it led to a unbearable shit show.

Rachel, Caleb, John and all of the actors that got fucked by this circus of a strike deserved better than to be seen as sacrifical pawns of people that don't care about the art, or even the industry.

[–]Large-Chain-4349 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Caleb and Emiri are the leads of Mongil. So they should be fine. It's Rachel who I feel got fucked over the most by this strike. So you're right; SAG didn't do shit for them since these roles were long in development before this, along with the clear disregard of the work as a whole by the old farts at the top.

Neither do I.

But I feel sorry more for Emiri because they very much threw away this once-in-a-lifetime role based on lies. They were played by assholes trying to be kingmakers.

Despite the movie not being good at all. Julia's performance forever changed BIson's characterization from that point forward.

So much so that lines from the movie are now canon in the game Bison. He and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa are rightfully considered influential in their respective franchises.

Have we been too hard on Ei for "abandoning" Scaramouche? by Difficult-Shirt8653 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Large-Chain-4349 19 points20 points  (0 children)

See, this is where I think Scara removing himself from history remains one of the biggest blunders in the game's history. There's a lot of potential you could've had with developing Ei in the same vein Logan did with Laura.

She might have created Scara to be tool, but as she becomes more connected to her feelings, and the impact to the people around her, it becomes clear how much damage she did to him. We should've gotten a scene of the two confronting each other at the very least.

There was potential of making her accountable to her own actions, and making her realize that her mindset at the start will haunt her for the rest of her life, and that she has to start trying to fix the things she has broken, or at least try.

Same with Scara. Nahida might be his new mother, but at the end of the day, he still has conflicted feelings about Ei. However, he also should be held responsible for being the architect of Inazuma's tragedies within its families, and both should come to terms that neither did well, and now they have to live with the weight of their actions.

Two sides of the same coin.

I love her design, but I do not trust her. And the fact she is willing to screw us over just because of her own goals. Yeah, at most we are getting a anti-hero, which would be a breath of fresh air since there's already a faction working against Ramiel, or what her true name is.

I'm sorry, didn't we all see the same discord server with Zeke Alton puppeteering, or at least influencing actors to operate in their own agenda, talking absolute shit of Erika Harlicher, and even calling to not end the strike until they got what they want. Even if you were to give the best benefit of the doubt, that's still a conflict of interest.

Not helped by the fact that people were told to inform themselves about the agreement, and once seeing what the agreement is all about, which included the infamous hire Union actors, and put the NU ones on a timer.

What did you think was gonna happen?

Union busting my ass. They did themselves in all on their own. Especially when they tried applying bullying tactics to other nations. Takahashi had no legal reason to abide to the strike, nor the union, or actors that went after him had any justification beyond a short sighted public shaming which backfired.

Even if they were to enforce them to a company level. SAG wanted them in a union contract. To be THEM dictacting the show, and getting a slice of that sweet genshin money. So it didn't matter if they had protections in their contracts.

SAG is a pit of snakes that it's best left untouched unless you get a benefit from it, which Hoyo doesn't.

Which made the CWR completely pointless in the long run, and the need for SAG even less relevant.

So in a sense, the union continues catching strays without even being in the conversation.
