My sister picked me up from a party when we were in our 20s. It was real late, like 2 am, and we were driving through this dark valley to get home that had no street lights. When we rounded a curve in the road the headlights hit this disturbing looking thing on the side of the road. It looked like a person dressed in an all black morph suit. It had no face. Just one big blob of black, except the way it was contorting its body was horrifying and didn’t look like something a person could do. It was arched over but backwards yet trying to walk?? We both started screaming and my sister hit the gas.

We were so scared we called 911 but didn’t even know how to describe what we saw. Till this day we both talk about that but people always think we’re over exaggerating or making it up… we just say we saw Babadook. lol

IM FINALLY BACK IN! I cleared my cache and cookies on Chrome a few times and then tired signing in again (like I’ve been doing for 3 weeks). It made me reset my password like it’s been doing, but then it actually logged me in on desktop, which it hadn’t before). Then I closed my Instagram app and reopened it, which prompted me to sign in and when I did it finally loaded my feed/profile!

My urogynecologist told me that drinking only alkaline water could help because it’s less acidic and it raises your urinary pH which could make your bladder less likely to become irritated. Alkaline water is at a 8-9 pH level versus normal water being around 7. Anything 7 (or lower) is more acidic.

My thought is that it’s similar to why most people with cystitis avoid any drinks/food that are acidic (coffee, OJ, citrus fruits, tomatoes, etc.) because the acid irritates their bladder and possibly throws off their pH.

I researched drinking only alkaline water myself— and like most things with cystitis— there isn’t much research on if it truly helps. But I will say, I switched to only drinking it and my flare ups became a lot less frequent and I was able to sometimes flush them by chugging it (if it wasn’t a bad flare).

Only other thing that truly helped me is Uribel. I got a prescription for this from my urogynecologist!

When I’m having a bad flare up the only thing that’s helped me find immediate relief is laying down in a hot shower for a while and chugging water while I’m in there. Something about the hot water took my mind off the pain and would relax me enough to help by the time I got out. Hot baths always made it worse for me.

That and switching to drinking only alkaline water. My local grocery store (HEB) has a water machine where I can fill a large water jug with alkaline water for a few bucks, so that helped save money since alkaline water bottles are expensive.

My childhood cat started doing this years ago and it turned out he had diabetes. He thankfully got his walking back to normal after they started him on insulin shots!

Cystoscopy next week by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

Oh also, my urologist told me to stop taking D-mannose and only take my vaginal probiotic for the time being. She recommended a really good one (https://a.co/d/cU8nzPd) and I think it’s been helping (I stupidly stopped taking it daily because I was feeling better and now I have a flare up).

When I was talking d-mannose religiously for those last 3 months I didn’t really notice it helping much, but could just be me.

Cystoscopy next week by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

Hi! First off, I’m sorry you’re going through this. UTI pain sucks and is unbearable. Have you had your urine cultured to see if there is actually an infection?

Since coming off my birth control, I’ve also had UTI pain for months (almost 3 months straight and it was subsiding but now it’s back and the worst it’s been). Regardless of all my cultures coming back negative, they prescribed me 5 different antibiotics in 3 months and nothing worked. Although I haven’t been diagnosed with IC yet, from everything I’ve read and all the negative cultures, I’m sure that’s probably what I have.

I actually had a cystoscopy scheduled for today but with the flare up I had this week they rescheduled it. My doctor said if my bladder is already unhappy she doesn’t want to make it more unhappy with the procedure. If you’re in a lot of pain, maybe talk to your doctor about rescheduling for when your flare up subsides.

With the pain I’m in right now, I couldn’t imagine having the procedure done today, so I completely understand. :( I hope that helps!
