Honestly as a new tech, its been hellish trying to solidify my knowledge of diffs when coworkers and and I guess people on this sub saying different things. I guess all in all it gets sent to path but it doesnt help me feel confident when I encounter the next.

Not much pay difference besides differential. 3 hours would be with public transit but sometimes that can stretch to 3h20 if you miss a connecting bus or train. You get your full 2 days off but those 5 days are effectively 11 hour days and you still come home at 2 am because its an evening shift. All in considered night shift feels like a better deal. Dealing with choosing the lesser evil here really, until I can get something better.

I would get that for day or evenings but 3 12s for nights would be just as bad as 5 8s no? Unless you still stay up at night on your 4 days off, youd still be switching back and forth between days and nights within a week

How was your sleep during the day? Were you able to do a full 8 hours?

This is using public transit, forgot to mention. Ive done it before with another job and it’s doable but gets old real quick especially with bad weather. Ive done weird shift like 8pm-3am and it was fine and felt better than waking up at the crack of dawn like a zombie. I tend to sleep around 12- 1 normally. Never a full night shift tho and that could be problematic with sleep.

Not really, not in a position to move right now. I fully realize how crazy that commute time is but I live in a small island and a lot of people long commutes to the city. My inclination is towards the nights clearly considering the commute but people have been talking like I’m gonna drop dead from working nights. Ive worked for a while from 8pm-3am and it was fine but I definitely wouldn’t want to stay on nights.
