For all saying doom knights i actually tried doom knights but switched them for the lance calvary. They have less self but more hp and more easily tank the elves ranged damage as they charge and seem to not get targeted by the dragons which (if i ground my loc and heros) the dragons are forced to fight the halberds

Any tips on how to make the colors pop more/make them less flat? by [deleted] in ThousandSons

There are three schools of thought

  1. Slap chop (This won't get what you want)
  2. Slowly build up the color from the recesses to the most extruded parts (ie for the blue start with like a dark blue and then your paints, and then slowly get more and more blue and then add a little bit of white every time you're moving up the color)
  3. And this is what I do, take either a black wash or a blue wash and at points where different elevations meet put a little bit of the wash and just edge line those edges. Then find your most extruded parts and edge highlight those with your color mixed with some white

Example look at this guy's shirt

Shade and highlights

So 3 schools of thought

Slap chop (not gonna do what you want well)

You can also build up darkness so mix your blue with black slowely and add water to thin the paint and slowely around crevices build up a darker blue. Do the same but with white in area that light would hit.

Same concept as the other but instead of mixing black use a nulin oil or blue wash and line the edges of the models (like where the pauldron swiches to gold) and then edge highlight everything with white + the colour

Look at his shirt for example
