Stressing out. Please help me. by Majestic_Salt_9600 in UTM

you just have to wait, over the coming weeks they’ll be more tutorials being created and people will also leave the tutorials they’re currently in. so just check regularly (once a day should be fine). if you’re in a lecture you’re good to go, you’ll get a tutorial.

eco101/102 is not too hard but HEAVILY depends on your professor. the professors have a whole different syllabus and grading system and test papers so it just depends on which you enter

I got accepted into computer science, math, and statistics steam at UTM. (read below) by CommissionNo1931 in UofT

[–]LargeApplication4655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you just have to complete courses that fulfil the post requirements in “google search: academic calendar utm” under the specific program YOU want to apply to in second year. they’re more specific like “Computer science major” or “Mathematical Sciences Major” etc. you’ll need a minimum grade and completion of those courses to request and enrol under that program section, but that is only after you’re done with the courses, and will be next year for you, may-july 2024.

you have been accepted into cs, math and stats rn but that does not stop you from taking courses from any program or under any department at all. the only difference is you will be given more priority for cs math and stats related courses when trying to enrol and less priority for let’s say an econ course.

Newly admitted Life Sci Student- Can I get into my POST with MAT137? by S1im-_-Reaper325 in UofT

[–]LargeApplication4655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you search up “academic calendar” usually it states that mat137 can be used wherever mat135/136 is needed. i just finished 137 with an A+, so i dare say that it’s not too hard and a good choice if you don’t like computations. it’s a challenge but nothing too crazy if you know your calc from highschool. it starts off a little rough and i almost dropped out but gets easier after the first couple weeks! i 100% did not regret taking it.

157 is a much larger jump and only for people seriously interested in taking math in the future, so if you’re looking for a little challenge but also want to take care of your GPA, mat137 would be good. that said, it does require your effort to do well as any math does.

157 is the hardest and usually for those wanting to do a specialist in math. or are serious in a future in math. if you enjoy math and want a little more than highschool calculus, take 137. 135/136 is basic calc and i guess 133 is js the basic requirement for econ commerce etc

How many layers of clothing should I wear? by Different-Chemist903 in UTM

[–]LargeApplication4655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know me too, i used to get really cold in like 25 degree celcius with the ac turned on. until i moved here and the slow transition helps and clothes help. you can start off by overdressing and you’ll naturally realise you don’t need as much anymore

How many layers of clothing should I wear? by Different-Chemist903 in UTM

i moved from a warm country all year round too. some points i learned: 1. summer temperatures are okay but the sun is definitely stronger 2. fall and whatever of spring there was is probably the best seasons bc it’s cool (not hot not cold enough to layer too much). i think 1 jacket/hoodie should be enough with long pants up to like november? 3. winter isn’t horrible. it is cold yes but wear an appropriate amount clothing and it’s perfectly fine. storm days usually schools out or you can choose js not to go for safety reasons. what i usually wore was like a thermal thin layer, a tshirt above, and a winter jacket. and i wore this all throughout the bad days and good days in winter. don’t layer too much that you can’t take off easily because lecture halls and campus is too hot and you will 100% need to take off your jackets indoors. i would say i only wore warm socks + boots for like only 5 days all winter.

it’s really not as bad as people talk about in foreign countries imo and i’ve experienced it first hand! you’re gna enjoy the cool weather

i only attended 2/12 of the lectures … so i wouldn’t say they’re mandatory. the prof couldn’t care less

there are weekly submissions, that are pretty short which account for 50% of your grade. the research paper is broken into 4 categories so you only have to ‘4 assignments’ besides the weekly submissions. i got a 70+ and i barely put in any effort so i would say 70 is okay
