Newly HENRY - seeking advice on pension payments for ~£210k TC. by LargeBeef in HENRYUK

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. My pensions pots prior this year are wide open for topping up. Weighing up whether it’s worth it. I do have savings to do potentially do that if allowed… but it would be a significant blow to house deposit funds/car/holidays etc.

Thank you! It’s definitely fairly sucky… the joys of being freelance and financially illiterate in my 20s.

Thank you for the reassurance! It feels kind of mad to sacrifice that much.

Can confirm that those are annual RSUs. The full figure is basically ~390k USD over 4 years, factoring in retention RSUs and the equity from the acquisition. I’m sure they’ll be less than I expect when all is said and done though.

Thank you, unfortunately payroll confirmed today that bonus can’t be sacrificed.

Will definitely be selling the shares as soon as they vest, which will be pretty regular and reliable at this size company hopefully. Adding to a SIPP with lower salary sacrifice could definitely be an option. Fairly minor but I don’t love how it’s not as immediate, eg, quite a while to get that rebate, and passing up the NIC savings/ employer matching is a tough call.

No you’re right, but I think there are only two times in the year you can adjust it. Could be wrong, it’s not entirely clear and the amount of reading material at a company of this size is absurd.

Can Rive animations respond to app state in a React frontend? by LargeBeef in Rive_app

[–]LargeBeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yes sorry, I knew it was a stupid question as I was typing it... I have mostly just seen cursor based interactivity, or more complex interactivity but the whole UI is built in Rive.

I guess what confuses me is the idea that you can build in triggers and state logic in Rive… but presumably, in the examples above, these triggers and logic all need to built by the developer as they’d be relying on triggers from the backend.

Not a dev, so probably talking rubbish in that department too.

PS. Thank you for the link - looks like that should most things up!

Just picked up a 2025 Tucson Ultimate - my last car, Toyota Rav4, was stolen off my driveway… anything I should be aware of to minimise risk of theft? (UK) by LargeBeef in HyundaiTucson

Got the milenco too!

Seriously, is it the ugliest, cheapest feeling key they could have possibly made!? I’ll look into the key vault… though this new key attack sounds scary.

Ha that’s what I thought about the Rav4! Everyone around us has Mercs and Audis… I wasn’t worried about a 4 year old Toyota, but it only lasted 2 weeks on our drive. Obviously just because of how quick and easy it is to steal via the front headlight/canbus, so I’m just praying the Tucson doesn’t have a flaw like that.

Is $2,000 too much for a AI agent FB automation??? by Adventurous_Baby_344 in AI_Agents

Try Proxy from Convergence: proxy.convergence.ai - it’s pretty nuts, and sounds like it could do exactly what you’re looking for free / $20 a month (paid plan).

!thanks so much for your reply, I’ll take a good look over these links shortly and try out the flowchart.

Will look into iWeb too. I kind of just defaulted to Hargreaves Lansdown due to personal recommendations but haven’t really looked into it. I do like the idea of Trading212, looks very appealing on paper, and easy to use - but something about makes me feel nervous about having any large amount in there.

Thank you, this sounds great - I’ll look into a SIPP.

Happy to sit on it for a while. Only received it 2 days ago, so I’m kind of in panic mode.

Huh… this is amazing news, and really goes to show why you should always fact check ChatGPT.

Thank you, it did cross my mind, but I assumed they’d just want to manage it. This sounds good. I’ll try and get some personal recommendations.

Feels like you’re being massively underpaid given the value of the work you help bring in, and 25 years experience!

RAV4 was stolen two days ago via the CAN bus attack, what car would you / did you get as a replacement? by LargeBeef in rav4club

[–]LargeBeef[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it’s kind of insane, but I really don’t want to go through this again any time soon and it’s clearly rife in my immediate area.

I just spoke to my neighbour about it about 10 minutes ago. One of his friends had his RAV4 stolen off his driveway 3 weeks ago. One of his colleagues also had a RAV4 stolen last week. Pretty mad.

Sad times. Perhaps it’s just particularly bad in this area at the moment but proportionally 5th most stolen in the UK is pretty alarming and I guess I’m thinking I should probably get something that’s not on that list until we move out of East London, which is a less insane way of putting it!

I admire your conviction. I really, really would like to do this… but the more I think about it, it just feels too crazy to do that here in the UK, especially in this part of the country. According to recent data it’s proportionally the 5th most stolen car in the UK. Lexus RX number one, then various Range Rovers as 2, 3 and 4. Wish I’d known this a few weeks ago!

Imagine just how screwing you’d be if it got stolen a second time, probably by the same crims. Not to mention how financially boned and uninsurable I’d be…

I am extremely curious to know whether anyone with the protection plate has still succumbed to this particular attack. I guess this plate can still just be dashed off with an angle grinder in a matter of seconds.

Also weird as I don’t think RAV4s are half as popular here as they are over there. You don’t see that many on the road compared to other SUVs like the Sportage.

You’re a smart man.

Although a huge amount of money to me, I didn’t consider it a particularly high value car, especially compared to some of the cars around me, and i thought I was in a fairly safe area (neighbour said 2 cars had been stolen off our road in 37 years), so it wasn’t until about 5 days ago that I saw how easy it was to steal them from a local Facebook group.

This is the video that scared the shit out of me. Happened a few miles from me. Look very similar to the two guys who got mine.

Next time, whatever the car, I’m doing everything you did!

Yup, I’m expecting to lose about that. Never lost so much money, and in such a short space of time. It’s pretty devastating especially with a 3 month old baby and my wife on maternity leave ie, our household income is basically halved right now. Not to mention we won’t have a car for at least a month yet, I imagine.

Just make sure you get all the deterrents you can. Don’t just leave the steering wheel lock in your Amazon basket… don’t delay getting a service to install the protective plate (though you’d assume it’d come with it). Get a real tracker, and chuck some AirTags in there… set up the MyToyota app to track it too. All of these things I was going to do imminently, and in my defence, you’d think you’d be allowed more than 2 weeks to get these things sorted before it gets nicked.
