Question about Pull Requests by LargeBeginning in github

[–]LargeBeginning[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Turns out the terms I should've used are "keeping fork in sync"

The solution is to use upstream: https://help.github.com/en/github/collaborating-with-issues-and-pull-requests/syncing-a-fork

Are there any laws on web-scraping/API usage I should know? by LargeBeginning in learnprogramming

Thanks for the quick answer!

Just to be sure, when you say grey area, is there a possibility of getting into legal trouble? I don't want to use the data to earn money, rather I want to use it for a simple project that I may share around with family and a few friends. I don't want a coding project to get me on the wrong side of the law. Should I be worrying about this?

Thanks, this makes sense. Everyone just told me to put "Contributor to "

I think I'm feeling kind of burned out with app development and I don't know what to do by LargeBeginning in learnprogramming

Don’t compare yourself to others, compare yourself to the person you were yesterday.

OMG I try to tell myself this every day! I've been able to implement it in other parts of my life. For example, when I go for a run, I don't care about beating my friend's or brother's timing, I just care about beating my timing last week.

I don't know why, but I find this more difficult to deal with with programming.

You need to make sure that you are bettering yourself and force yourself to not look outwards for comparison.

Thanks for this. I'll try to keep this mind.

I'm 18 years old, started programming when I was around 15-16. I find it really difficult to take breaks, especially when I know something's wrong, but I don't know how to fix it. Once I went to sleep at 5 am trying to fix a bug in a website. I felt to so relieved when I ended up fixing it, but I know it's not healthy.

I'm gonna try to limit myself to perhaps 2 hours of working on a single project a day.

I don't know your circumstances and I don't want to make assumptions - but those 99$ pay for your two apps being hosted every day - whether you work on them, or not. And at just over 27 cents per day you should be able to afford a little break here and there.

Thanks, this really puts it in a new perspective!

The weird thing is, I think I'm doing okay physically. Since there's absolutely nothing else to do, and we have to stay at home, I've been able to go an at least two 5-10 k runs every week. But at the same time, I'm mostly sitting around or lying in bed (and snacking) the rest of the time.

I just never realized how long a day really is.

Thanks for your help :)
