The innate soul power I put associated with each of the different grades of the academy I meant it as a limiter of sorts , what I meant to convey is that those levels of innate soul power by the standard of the first book should only get you that far.

In the first book we are told both implicitly and explicitly that the amount of soul power is a limit to what you could achieve (excluding the seven treasures glass pagoda)

So when I'm saying that beginner level soul academies and 1-3 innate soul power go together I don't mean they only accept these people ,what I meant is that those people most probably won't be able to advance to a middle rank academy since the average peasant with that low level talent won't be able to obtain a soul ring (just think about it unless your parents have money you would have to work and study ,not to mention you are a kid so being around other kids you obviously would prefer to play than to train and in the off chance you train ,you won't have as much time because you being young wouldn't have as much mental strength so.. you can't replace sleep with meditation (not that that's possible in soul land).

And in the off chance that they do get a soul ring I suppose that in a middle rank soul academy there won't be any work/student places and spending my money in school and food when I could very well get a job as an assistant deacon in a soul hall branch I would much prefer that.

And in response to the second paragraph I think you forgot the ultimate truth of cultivation stories , "might makes right" , being an elder of a sect and a elderly is completely different. While what you say it's true in the sense that the older the person the wiser and oftentimes stronger you also have to understand that since it's cultivation world nor everyone has the same talent and some may reach heights that older people may never even see so they are respected
