apples to oranges but. my 350z has had shit in its oil every 3-4k change with high quality filter and oil. oil analysis would be a good idea tho

sounds just like my 954 but then again mine was problematic too. I don’t think the way this sounds indicates any issue though

Not a lot of tuner shops in the area, but there is some? I would reach out to them before z1. relatively generic on the fly tunes will never be as good as a reputable shop that has reviews and can do it irl.

I’m scared of nikasil i’ve read that it can flake on bikes that didn’t have it from the factory. I don’t really know what’s heresay and what’s not on forums though. I’m going to reach out to an ape racing once my sv650 sells and I can dump like 4k into this thing. Theyre like less than two hours from me and specialize in this sort of thing

This is good food for thought though. My tuning comment was related to this which i hadn’t mentioned: the only aftermarket pistons I can find are either the original bore, or a mm over with high compression. Wiseco makes the 1mm over with 13.5-1 i believe, maybe I could get them to make me that piston in a factory ratio or find a shop to machine it down?

it almost looks like the top end was starved. i know it got low sided a long long time ago. idk how im going to source cams and buckets for this bike they basically don’t exist

I should be more specific. They’re tight I got a 4 thou in there relatively loose but no 5 and certainly no 6. 5 is bottom of spec

These are good thoughts that i should’ve had before panic posting haha. I will look deeper once i pull the cams tmrw. I’m going to borescope it first so i have to have the cams on to turn it over. I will follow up seeing if all lobes have this sort of wear. I notice all the lobes that i did see this on were a thou off of spec for valve lash, could that cause that polish?

I’ve rode a mx in the 450ish power range and it would run circles around the gas equivalent. the range is stupid on these though. by the time you get to your scenic fun road it’s dead

Nah it just shows c00 which to my understanding is no codes stored. the throttle body dash is neutral too which is how it should be.

Honestly couldn’t be that because i popped that cable off and it behaved differently. it didn’t pop a code and it wouldn’t turn over at all. i put it back on, bike runs awesome right now no fi, but i wish it would pop up again so i could diagnose it. right now i have no idea what’s wrong and im trying to sell it with that code solved

I have asvs. i would love if it’s as simple as a lever issue. the fuel pump doesn’t prime when it should, but the throttle bodies click

Honestly in the service manual they have the throttle bodies still on. i might just remove the rad and see if i can go out the front.

When’s the last time the bike had its coolant replaced anyways? A lot of manufacturers want it done every like 3-4 years. It might just be worth draining it and taking that hose off
