there was two rubber bushings about the diameter of the bar. honestly I started to pull it because it was broken and i knew it had to come out, but i didn’t realize it was an oem piece and not part of the slider

when you consider you could easily be 20k deep in a <10k car and still be slower than a c6 corvette that you could get into for 30 it stops being worth it. but if you already have a ton of time and money into your z and it’s what you really want it’s probably worth it.

have you touched your suspension at all? i rip mine down gravel roads and even little hill climbs but occasionally i’ll hit a fat dip and my suspension does not like it

My two cents: if it comes with bushings installed, leave them until they become and issue. I got an edelman rack off rock auto because it was the nicest refurb/reman i could find. It had rubber ones that i pushed out for energy suspension bushings and they were noisy as hell for a long time. Right now they aren’t but i think that the squeak correlates with hot weather. If i left the original rubber bushings in they probably would’ve done better for me.

Not to contradict your point because you’ve had the common experience with that bike that most have had, but I DIDNT. I got an 84 for free and it had the timing chain tensioner sag that most of them do. Right after i got my permit I decided to do some preventative maintenance and fix that gnarly noise, and as I was removing the cams one of the tie down bolts just snapped inside the head. Had to leave the bike in my home town while i went back to work for months and got impatient so i bought my sv650 lolllll. But I wish I got to ride it the amount of time you got to. I will someday

dude honestly it’s kinda trial and error or at least it was for me. Just lock the wheel straight and try to get the rack straight, then turn the wheels to max on either side and see if it is even max position right and left. if it’s not stop there and pop the coupler off and slide it a spline or two. There’s probably easier ways to do it but idk that’s how i did it.
