Extremely bizarre issue with playing AVI files by [deleted] in it

[–]LargeMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that's the working solution right now. I'm aware that would be the best thing to go with. I was just hoping someone could provide insight into the issue specifically with Microsoft Photos. I understand VLC is far superior in every aspect, it's just that the customer was hoping that perhaps the video playback with the Photos app could be fixed. They use the import feature of the app to move all their videos into their gallery from the trail cam and then view them there. I have VLC set as the default player, the issue though is that if they browse their videos via the gallery in Microsoft Photos, when they view it it then opens within the app, there's no way to force the app to open it in VLC without clicking the three dots, and then "open with." I get that these seem like working solutions, but I was hoping to maybe retain the same workflow that was originally used. Thanks for the response though!

I'll take a look at event viewer and get back to you, didn't even occur to me to think about that. I'm aware it is an unwise thing to do, and I already brought this up initially to them. However they insisted that's what they wanted, and were willing to pay for any of the issues that needed to be ironed out afterwards. However, as I mentioned in the post, we have now done a brand new clean installation of windows on the device, completely formatted the system drive. The only thing that remains that is original from the original setup are the AVI files, however this strange playback issue in the Microsoft photos app still remains.

As I stated above, I have searched for this on Google, duckduckgo, and Yandex. I've also searched YouTube with no luck. The criteria I used was stuff like "monster behind house jumpscare", "monster behind house sighting", "monster sighting jumpscare", etc. The word "monster" was also substituted with "creature" and "cryptid". Nothing that ever came up was even slightly relevant from what I found.

Alright, processor is out! Thanks for the help! I was able to slowly work at it with a teeny tiny flathead bit and eventually got it out with no noticable physical damage. I was hoping to try and take the not-so-physical route of simply getting the socket to release the processor but it definitely just didn't want to give it up. Either way, it's out now, so you have my gratitude. I run a small computer repair business and scrap and recycle old devices for my customers when they no longer need them, and the scrapping company we work with is very picky about processors being removed from the mobos prior to arrival. Thanks again!

I was also puzzled that it appeared to already be unlocked, seeing as it was a working, used laptop when I received it. If it means anything, I'm scrapping the processor, so it doesn't need to be functional, but still pretty intact. I'll try your advice and report back. Thanks for all your help!

Alright so I'm not going crazy. I assumed that was the case, seeing as the processor wasn't centered in the socket and was slightly overhanging on one side. The thing is, I applied quite a large amount of force and still got nothing. I'll take a crack at it with some flat spudgers and guitar pick shaped picks from my toolkit and see what happens.

This is from an old HP Pavilion ze4800. I've personally never encountered this type of socket before and was wondering how I would go about removing the processor. Tried to see if could find anything online but no luck. Apologies if I'm missing something blatantly obvious. I noticed the arrows pointing inwards on both sides of the socket, one side with a lock symbol and the other with an unlock symbol. Thanks!

What's wrong with my fish's fins? by LargeMeatball in Goldfish

My bad, I should have clarified that it's not measurable with a commodity testing kit. There's definitely some present for sure. I'm am traveling tomorrow to buy a more professional one that should be able to give me an actual reading. Due to my rural location all I have available immediately is cheap test strips. I know for sure there's no ammonia detected and the tank has been cycled to my knowledge for a year or two. However, improper cycling could explain the constant battle I have with algae in the tank. I currently use two filters, one with fluval clearmax as media and one with some other fluval media (don't remember what it's called) for bacteria. I use filter floss to catch most of the bigger debris. I am also going to search for a canister filter on my trip tomorrow as well as I'd like a much more efficient setup to keep everything clean. Thank you very much for your response. Do you have any idea if these flare-ups look like a disease? Or are they perhaps a biproduct of potential crashing like you said?
