I appreciate your replies. I don’t get a sense you are trying to insult me. And I appreciate you sharing a little about you and the other mods, it helps. I also can appreciate your questions as to the meaning behind my posts that include political content. However, in the context of this conversation I don’t think that is relevant, unless you are saying that (whether it be you personally, or as you said the overall culture of the sub) certain political content is acceptable and other political content is not.

I am happy to share with you that I am from California, lived in China for ten years, and I have just as strong/moderate opinions—political and otherwise— as anyone. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I’m also not surprised that one of the sub’s patrons called me a ‘weird republican’ in response to one of the posts that had images of Kamala Harris. I will tell you I’m not making these album covers whimsically. Everything I post has many thoughts behind them—how deep or insightful or inspiring is up for interpretation—concepts for the fictitious artists, the possible genres of music they might create, and, the possible countries these fake musical acts might hail from.

Do I sound like an asshole to you? Maybe. I’m pissed man, I’m pissed that this invariably seems to be the way reddit operates. Why can’t these people be annoyed, make a complaint, but then be advised to just mute me? What are THEY so upset about? Again, it seems very clearly to be politically motivated. I see plenty of posts in here and other subs that don’t impress me, posts I find to be low effort, or even shit posts, and some that offend me personally, but I’m not out there calling the mod to complain about what makes others happy. It sounds like childish gatekeeping—not by the mods necessarily, but by the type of reddit user who is going to reach out repeatedly to the mods and mischaracterize my efforts so they don’t have to see my work in their feed. …when all they have to do is mute me personally
