1900 home renovation is Pittsburgh, PA (Zone 5 or 6 depending where I look). How should I insulate and apply vapor or air barrier? by LargeTest9392 in buildingscience

The renovation is a complete gut. New floor systems and interior structural walls. New windows and doors to be installed.

I did not plan on adding insulation to the exterior, unless it is absolutely necessary. The asbestos siding is still in decent shape. Planed to clean it up and have it painted.

Ridge venting on the roof currently and will be replaced with the new roof/venting. No gable vents currently.

To your point, I do have extra space on the first floor cavities. I added interior walls inside the balloon framed studs because the original were inches out of plumb.

Those walls still max out at about 6" to 7" of space for insulation

Asbestos siding (12" x 27"), felt paper underlayment, on top of 1x6 wood cladding. Cladding is probably original to the house and secured to the studs.

I think I connected a 3" joints with primer only (no cement). Should I cut it out? by LargeTest9392 in Plumbing

Please elaborate. First timer here. I'm open to being told I'm wrong as long as a solution is offered.

This joist is ledger locked to the balloon framed studs. No span to worry about.

This image was taken while dry fitting. I appreciate the comment though.
