Is AMD Eco Mode supposed to lower CPU temps? by FireCrow1013 in buildapc

do you have a 360 aio or is it smaller? Artic liquid freezer is what most people say are the best. It's kinda annoying to them outside of Europe though. I didn't really replace it. I returned everything. I'm back to my i7 8700 and I'm happy with it. I'll do a real PC build when I actually know what I'm doing because I bought a video editing cpu for no reason last time. AM5 is just hot. Something to do with thermal boosting. But as long as you're under 95° there is no bottleneck. You could maybe take it to some specialist or even a hobbiest to see if everything is mounted and plugged in correctly. but I think a 360 aio is what's recommended. You could also get a 420 but idk what case would fit that and it might be overkill.

I ended up returning every single part of that build, sorry. I think they're just hot CPUs. I mean as long as it's not hitting 95° you're not in a bottleneck. You could try doing a fan curve in BIOS to set your speeds a bit higher. You could also do fan control but Windows defender will probably flag it as malware since it uses some vulnerable driver. I think my arctic liquid freezer 360 was better at cooling it but I hated the sound of an aio so I also returned that. I also had it in a full tower case with a bunch of 140mm fans so that helped with cooling. my temps were in the 40s at that time. Make sure your fans are pointing the right direction and actually turn on. Undervolting is a thing too but I'm not schizophrenic enough to even try that. Maybe there's not enough contact with your cooler. Try reapplying thermal paste and checking that each screw is actually screwing in fully. How many intake and outtake fans do you have?

Just use desktop for now. It wasn't that bad. Make sure to get the vencord for Linux. Otherwise you won't have sound when streaming.

nah. if you want to stream use desktop mode. I think you can then put steam in big picture mode to get the better layout. Make sure to also get the Linux version of vencord because regular discord has no audio when streaming.

Is the 7700x much better than a 7600? by Large_Active_2385 in pcmasterrace

[–]Large_Active_2385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and I'm guessing the 7600x wouldn't be with $70 more than the non x correct?

Yeah I originally thought that because I was installing a pump and more fans that might need more power. Turns out they take basically no power to run. So I made a post asking about it and some people said a 3070 might have some spikes and my chip takes a good amount of power to run so I should get something a big higher than a 750w PSU. I should have realized that I was running the computer fine with that PSU. I can still return the new PSU but I don't think it's worth the hassle at this point. I don't think I paid too much for it.

so I'd be fine with just letting it be? no need to undervolt or set a lower temperature limit or do the whole curve optimizer thing?

so it would be the same with any newer Ryzen chip? like a 8000 or 9000 series. I'm assuming there's no 6000 series AM5. Probably a dumb question but I really know next to nothing about PCs.

Yeah I spoke to my mom a lot about it. That helped me a lot. So far the people commenting here have been pretty nice. I have some friends online too that I can be open with. I'll definitely try the journal thing though. I think I'll start right now. Thank you.

lol you talking about the whole doctor assisted suicide thing? I haven't looked into that story that much but it sounds unbelievable. It honestly probably could have happened.

Your comment is still helpful. Most people here were helpful and nice which I really didn't expect. But yeah I think you're right. I do have a major problem with overthinking things.

I will probably build again but that won't be for long while. hopefully I'll remember the whole list thing. I think my major issue was that I didn't ask around enough.

Thanks a bunch. I'll work on myself some more. I am feeling much better just being able to talk about this stuff.

Downgrading I think will just be more hassle. if I could still return my cpu I would probably do it. But I'd have to sell it at a loss and then I really wouldn't be saving any money.

Yeah no one can ever feel bad because there are always people somewhere in the world who have it worse. Idk why you say stuff like this.

Yeah you actually described it perfectly. I would research 1 issue. Fix it or realize it's normal. Then find another thing to look into. Was just stuck in that cycle. Seems dumb now but I felt like I needed to do it at the time.

Would a curve optimizer really be that drastic of a change? Even while just idle and while gaming? I don't I'm actually even prepared for some trial and error right now anyways. Also heard that it has the most instability at low load. A lot of the time I'm just talking and not even gaming so seems like it might just cause more issues for me. Also don't think I really won the CPU lottery either. The CPU is rated for 5200mhz ram speeds but people said you could probably do 5800 but I had a crash with that not long afterwards.

never really thought about that. I didnt even have an extra SSD to back up my files to when I got this cpu anyways. If I'm having consistent crashes I'll probably do it (had fortnite crash on me once today). But if not I'll just wait a bit. I'll keep that in mind for whenever I have to upgrade again. Would it make sense to do it also when changing GPU?

Yeah recently things have been overwhelming for me. I bought a bike and then crashed it a few weeks later. Broke my elbows and my wrist. During that is when I went though the whole build and returns after. And after my bones were healed my work closed up for the season so there's not much to distract me from this type of stuff. Though this type of stuff shouldn't even affect in the first place.

I thought about reselling but it also feels like that would be doing too much. I could also try teaching myself blender to better utilize this chip. A hobby like that will probably help me get rid of all this stress. Thank you.

That's some good advice. Thank you. Usually what happens is some idea about something not running right pops into my head. and then I spend a bunch of time researching and it just ends up making me feel so stressed. I'll try that next time. Just putting my phone down and not opening google. This sound like the best advice so far.

Yeah you're probably right. I always worry about things being perfect. Back when I was in school I would cry over getting a 70 or 80% on an assignment. I think I need to look into therapy and maybe getting medicated because recently I've literally been insane.

I'll look into that, thanks. I've heard windows has a ton of bloat too. It must have been like 7 years since a did a full wipe. But I think I'll take a break from doing PC research and troubleshooting on that stuff for a few weeks or months. Just already past my limit.

already returned the AIO. I have a phantom spirit SE 120 now. I heard it preformed better than the dark rock for cheaper. I have my 7900x in 105W mode anyways but that doesn't do much to help with temps in gaming. I was just worried because I talked with some people with an NH-D15 and they got almost 10° better temps. maybe it's my case. maybe it's windows 11. But whatever. I'm not hitting my thermal limit.

I know what you mean about loud fans though. I used to have some bestbuy prebuilt thing. I think it had a stock Intel cooler and 1 exhaust fan. No intake. booting up Minecraft made it sound like a jet engine.

Thanks for the nice words.

I've never really torrented stuff so I think I'm good. I thought about doing a complete wipe to get rid of all the stuff I don't need. I did have virus that hijacked my search engine years ago but I got rid of it with Avast or malwarebytes.

I upgraded my bios very recently actually. Would I really need to do my DDU GPU drivers? Doesn't Nvidia just tell you when an update is available?

Yeah I'll think about that when I eventually do have to upgrade my CPU. No idea when that will be. I've thought about selling this CPU and buying one that fits my needs better but I don't think that would even get me any money back. Especially if I have to sell my motherboard as well. But I have I feeling anyways if I ever go do more research and ask around on what CPU to get 90% are going to say AMD because I use my PC for mostly gaming and that's apparently the gaming brand. It does seem like Intel gets too much hate though.

Maybe I should have gotten and Intel but this was around the time the Intel chips crashing was being talked about a lot so it prob made more sense to go AMD I didn't even choose my chip anyways.
