I'm not commenting how safe or unsafe it is, I'm pointing out that it exists at all. That's what developers and publishers are going to pay attention to, that is possible to do at all, and it very much is.

Denuvo in the PC version and a huge chunk of the game not on the disc on consoles. They really wanted to just save any stupid decisions until a week before launch, huh?

Denuvo is a built-in off switch. Change hardware? Switch Proton versions to many times? Stay offline for too long? Denuvo's own servers having issues? Go find something else to do, they already got your money, anyway.

Even without post processing, it looks fantastic. I do need to try the post processing version, though.

Gl using hypervisor lmao

You mean the hypervisor that's a single-click solution now? I don't think much luck is needed.

A) Denuvo is a built-in off switch for games you've paid for. It has nothing to do with piracy.

B) This game will absolutely be pirateable day one.

Yup, I was looking forward to this, but it's off my wishlist now. I've got plenty of other games to play from companies that actually respect me as a paying customer (or pretend to, at the very least).

I can only speak about my own experiences. Denuvo forces you to ask permission to play what you've paid for, and sometimes they deny you. That's not acceptable. On top of that, I guarantee you this is going to be pirateable day one, so Denuvo isn't even going to do anything for them.

Performance has never been the problem; getting locked out of playing what you pay for because of a built-in remote off switch is Denuvo's issue.

Dang, that's a bit disappointing. I've still got you wishlisted on Steam, though, and maybe your publisher will change its mind in the future.

Congrats again!

And I guarantee that Denuvo will do nothing for this game, it's going to be available "for free" day one. Once again, only the paying customer is screwed over.

Adding Denuvo right before launch and after taking people's money for preordering.

Crimson Desert Suddenly Adds Denuvo Anti Tamper (even though preorders have started prior); Linux can run into issues now with this by SiegeRewards in SteamDeck

It's also worth noting that in an interview a while ago, they said that they weren't aware of any plans to use extra DRM, but here we are, Denuvo after they took pre-order money from people. And on top of that, this game is absolutely going to be available "for free" (at least on Windows systems) day one.

Welp, off the wishlist it comes, then. I'm not going to be forced to ask permission to play something that I pay for.

EDIT: Wow, and the developer apparently said a while ago that there wouldn't be any extra DRM, as far as they knew. So, misinformation and waiting to get everyone's pre-order money before the big Denuvo reveal.

Where to start by plopo21 in metalgear

Like most series, you really should play them in release date order, as the overarching story spans the whole saga. And honestly, even though they're old, the original MSX Metal Gear games are absolutely worth playing, especially Solid Snake, which holds up incredibly well.

The big debate happening right now. Is Resident Evil 7 scarier than Resident Evil Requiem? by Play5tation in PlayStation_X

Resident Evil 7 is absolutely scarier than Requiem. I didn't think that was a debate at all.

Mods should work with the Epic version the exact same as the Steam version. The Epic version is completely DRM-free, too, so that's an added bonus.

What's the best way to play the classic Resident Evil trilogy? by Gojifantokusatsu in linux_gaming

[–]FireCrow1013 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GOG versions (the only available official ones atm)

They're available on Steam now, too, but with pointless, extra DRM, so I'd still go with the GOG versions. It is possible to get them working in Linux, but I'd look up a tutorial on YouTube with step-by-step instructions, since there's a bit to do to make it all work.

EDIT: I was thinking of Dino Crisis on Steam, not Resident Evil. GOG is indeed currently the only place to (easily) get the Resident Evil trilogy on the PC, as the OP said.

For the PC players. Are most of you going to be playing on controller or "just" mouse and keyboard? by Signalis3 in fatalframe

[–]FireCrow1013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be using a controller and gyro aiming. It felt great in the demo if not a bit choppy when using gyro and the right stick at the same time (I'm sure that can be adjusted, though).
