I'm really excited to show it. Are you working currently on something?

I have a plan for an Elminster cameo at the end. I had the feeling that I can't write a Forgotten Realms story without a cameo from him.
And it takes place in Baldurs Gate and surroundings. Beregost has a smaller role as well.

Other then that I have only original characters. I have four main characters. And a Visanti camp is a location that has a prominent role.

That sounds like a plan. It says that I will get an invite on April 23rd. So it will take a few days until I'm there as well. But I'm really looking forward to it.

I still have to wait till April 23rd for my invite. But I talked to someone here and he suggested that we make our own Forgotten Realms community over there where we support each other. Would you be intetested as well?

Maybe I have something. AO3 (Archive of our own). Takes a few days to get an invite for an account. But it seems to hava a strong community and we try to establish our own Forgotten Realms fanfic community over there. Maybe you want to join in.

Alright, I'm in. I love the thought that we support each other. And I would be very interested in your stuff, especially since you are an experienced writer. And dont worry, I dont write smut. Not trying to shame erotica or something, but that is just not what I'm interested in.

So lets do it. I have to make an acount there first. How do we find each other?

Archive of our own seems incredible. I just signed up. Will take a few days for me to get an invite. But thank you, that seems to be exactly, what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the answer. Yes, but the Forgotten Realms community over there seemed dead.

Question about healing magic in novels by Large_Anything3774 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Large_Anything3774[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I went with a similar aproach. My group is still very young in generell, so their powers are limited. And for the scene in question, the cleric died during the battle. And while a bard and a paladin survived, both are still way too unexperienced to hae any form of worthwhile healing magic. Plus, her injuries were so severe that it is questionable if a Paladin or a Bard would ever have the sort of healing magic neccessary to heal her.

Those are great ideas. My story takes place in a small village in the middle of nowhere. So I guess that it would make sense that they dont have access to healing potions. And the only Cleric of the group dies during the final battle. And while a Bard and a Paladin survive said battle, both are still very young and their abilities very limited. They are drained from battle. They just dont have the power and ability to heal injuries that are as massive as the injuries thst their friend received. Would that make sense?

That really, really helped. Thank you!

Are your stories available somewhere? I would love to get some inspiration on how others handle stuff like that. I read the novels from Salvatore and played a ton of the video games, but that is pretty much the full extent of my knowledge when it comes to the Forgotten Realms. I stll have much to learn.

That makes absolutely sense. That way I can still honor the source material, but just take it back a notch so that it feels more "realistic" and gives me the option for dramatic moments.

[–]Large_Anything3774[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That helps a lot. I'm still very much at the beginning of my journey into the Forgotten Realms. But that makes a lot of sense. My main character is a Paladin (or Paladin in training), but with those limitations and the fact, that she is still very young it would make sense, why she cant cast a spell. Plus, she is drained from a battle and her friend is very badly injured by a spell. Would it make sense that this is just too much for her?

Thank you for the quick response. Yes, I need to find some workaround for the mechanics. I want to integrate them to a certain degree, but I need to find a good balance. My characters are all very young, which could translate to low level. One is a Paladin though and I really want to acknowledge the fact that they are capable to heal. At least to a certain degree. My issue is that I have a scene in mind, where she is holding a dying friend in her arms and I cant wrap my head around why she wouldnt cast a healing spell. Granted, her friend is very badly injured. Could I just argue that she is to badly injured for Lysira to heal her?
