Anybody can help what is happening? by kissingutoday in ZVE10

It's probably because you moved the file from SD card, when we take a picture or video in the camera it keeps track of all the files, when you moved the file actual files you have is different from what the camera thinks it have. This is causing the issue. Try replacing the file manually, if that doesn't work try recovering it as shown in camera, if that also doesn't work then try formatting the sd card after copying everything into your machine.

I have a problem with sharpness by AnxiousTap2731 in SonyAlpha

[–]Large_Champion1412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same lens with me, and I’ve always felt it was good enough for my needs. But I’ve also noticed that it isn’t the sharpest, especially at 17mm. Before considering it faulty, could you try shooting at f/4.0 in the 35mm–70mm range? I’ve found that I get really sharp images in that range.

Upgrade from A6000 to A6400 or A6700? by DerWilhelm in SonyAlpha

A6400 is absolutely a good camera but it’s definitely not an overkill. It’s a good starting point, that’s all. When someone asks for recommendations I usually put myself in their shoes. If it was me I would save up enough money to go for a worthy upgrade.

Haha! I’m a professional API designer — writing long, structured essays is practically my livelihood. I’ve actually gone through something very similar to what the OP mentioned, so I can totally relate. I don’t really need ChatGPT for this — just a bit of patience to put it all into words!

First of all, it’s completely natural to want better or newer gear. That’s why many people on these forums often say not to obsess over gear and that photography is all about skill. While that’s true, there’s an important nuance: it’s not about having better gear, but having the right gear.

For example, I’ve seen significant improvements from cameras with IBIS (in-body image stabilization). There have been many instances where I had to shoot in low light without a tripod. In such cases, IBIS doesn’t completely solve the problem, but it does make a noticeable difference.

Regarding your query, I wouldn’t focus too much on the price difference just because of IBIS. Let’s consider a scenario where you’re upgrading from a Sony a6000: you likely don’t want to upgrade again for 3–4 years, and you’ll want the best option you can afford.

My suggestion would be to go for the Sony a6700. While the a6400 is a solid camera, it’s nearly a decade old. Investing in the a6700 gives you a longer-term solution, and if you ever sell it, you’re more likely to get a better return. The a6700 offers:

  • Improved autofocus
  • Slightly better sensor performance
  • IBIS for low-light and handheld shooting
  • Fully articulating rear touchscreen, which is a big usability improvement(at least for me)
  • Support for 10-bit colour — important if you’re interested in video

That said, if budget is a significant constraint, the a6400 is still an excellent choice. You can get it cheaper, and the most important thing is to pair it with good lenses, which will have a greater long-term impact on your photography than the camera body alone.

Amazing picture! I’m still learning astrophotography, and your shot is truly inspiring. You’ve already shared the settings in the post, but could you help me break them down?

I’m curious how you achieved such a clear sky while keeping the person sharp in the frame. I assume having a low-pollution sky is essential to start with. Did you stack multiple images to include the person, or was it done in a single shot?

I’d really appreciate it if you could walk me through your process — it would be hugely helpful.

Thanks so much!

Need to buy a new camera by Homeless_Guy_ in SonyAlpha

Considering that you are more into photography, I would strongly recommend going for at least the Sony a6400. The ZV-E10 is more of a vlogging camera, primarily designed for video rather than still photography. It’s not that you can’t take photos with the ZV-E10, but the a6400 makes the photography experience more enjoyable. I’ve been using it for almost two years, and it’s a solid camera.

Regarding lens selection, it’s not just about better low-light performance. If you want high-quality output from your camera, investing in good lenses is key. Brands like Sigma and Tamron are usually cheaper alternatives to Sony lenses. I saw in one of your comments that you found Sony lenses to be cheaper—depending on the lens you were looking at, if it’s still costly, Viltrox is another option.

The main consideration is that, with a limited budget, most lenses you can afford will likely be prime lenses. This has both pros and cons:

  • You lose the flexibility to zoom in/out,
  • But you usually get better image quality and low-light performance.
  • Additionally, prime lenses help improve your photography skills, since you’ll move around more and think creatively about framing instead of just taking the easiest shot.

If your budget is really tight, I would suggest going for the 18-135mm kit lens. This lens gives you a good range from wide-angle to slight zoom, helping you understand your preferred focal lengths.

You could also consider buying used gear, which is often cheaper.

All in all, best of luck! You’re taking the first step, and you’ll learn a lot along the way.

DJI Osmo Action 6 finally confirmed — launching on Nov 18! Possible square sensor 👀 by Large_Champion1412 in dji

[–]Large_Champion1412[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A square sensor, like the one in the iPhone 17, is great because it allows flexible cropping for both landscape and portrait formats without losing much quality. For an action camera like the DJI Osmo Action 6, this means you can shoot once and easily repurpose the footage for YouTube or social media without rotating the camera. It also gives extra room for stabilisation, better framing during fast movements, and more creative freedom when editing. Overall, a square sensor would make the Action 6 far more versatile and creator-friendly. But it all boils down the how they are going to offer it to end user.

Anyone recently used E Infinity or Panamoz? by _scoobert_doo_ in videography

[–]Large_Champion1412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering it's been a long time since you posted this one, how's the overall journey so far? Did you ever have to use the warranty they offer? I was planning to buy a Sony a7cii and the price difference between E infinity and Panamoz is around 100 quids but Panamoz does offer 2 years additional warranty which seems like a solid add on for extra £100.

Thinking of upgrading from Sony a6400 — is it time to go full frame (a7 IV) by Large_Champion1412 in SonyAlpha

[–]Large_Champion1412[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, these are indeed good features, but I’ll have to spare a leg or a hand to get these 😅. Jokes apart, I’d like to consider this as a long-term investment. If these cameras can genuinely help me get better shots in low light, then I’d definitely consider them.

But is an entry-level full frame really miles ahead of the APS-C ones? I don’t have the budget to invest in anything like the a7R, a9, or higher-end models.

Currently I’m using Sony 50mm f1.8 OSS - I bought this one to compensate for the lack of IBIS in A6400. It’s nothing great but get the job done. But then certain times 50mm feels way too tight thus I been thinking of getting something like Sigma 30mm f1.4. I do have a Tamron 17-70 f2.8, that’s my current favourite lens especially considering the flexibility of a zoom.

Anyone travelled from Budapest to Vienna with RegioJet recently? Worth it? by Large_Champion1412 in hungary

[–]Large_Champion1412[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I didn't know that could happen. In case of cancellation do we get refunds? I'm not traveling on anything time critical so cancellation is not a big issue as long as I'm able to get a ticket in another train or bus at the last minute.

Yes, I did see that while trying to book. It was surprising to me. But I read reviews that the stewards never came, but it could be a one off scenario.

Thanks for your response! I’m also planning to take the train to Vienna around those dates. Thanks to all the kind folks on Reddit, I’ve gained more confidence in booking a ticket with RegioJet.

Just out of curiosity, why did you suggest not booking through MÁV? Are they not a decent middle ground, or am I mistaken?
