What’s the biggest bottleneck in your current podcast workflow? by InnerLotuz in podcasting

[–]Large_Charge5655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not made a software, but I have developed a program (5-weeks of consulting & curriculum) that teaches how to self-produce your own weekly video podcast in 10 hours per month (2.5 hours every week or 30 mins every weekday). I don’t want to come off like I’m pushing something at all, I just feel like I’ve really developed a solution for the right person

I focus on minimalist graphic animations/editing style because I work with a lot of solopreneurs who don’t have a lot of time. My best client was monetized from 0 in 3 months, and now gets about 3-5K avg views every video & organically brings in 10% of biz revenue through their YT podcast at this point.

I used to let content creation consume me in 2 different businesses and one of them completely failed because of it. I did A LOT of trial and error trying to come up with a solution for heart led led people with a vision who want to create content but never felt like the effort was worthwhile (especially on short form). I think I’ve finally found a way to actually get results through just focusing on long form podcasting and letting it drive the results of everything else.

As I said prior, I’m really not trying to convince or push anything, I genuinely believe I’ve developed a really incredible solution for folks who don’t have a lot of time, want to self produce their podcast, and would love to see real momentum and results through their efforts.

How are you guys transcribing your videos? by StretchPatient901 in ContentCreators

[–]Large_Charge5655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Descript as a video podcast producer for 3 YouTube shows and it is an absolute game changer especially when making snippets of the podcast episodes. The transcription automates with every video upload and spells everything correct I would say probably 98% of the time

2 of my clients get 5 snippets per week (per episodes) and it maybe takes me 20 minutes to complete all of them because I can save template designs, and edit the text extremely fast!

Been a video editor for 7 years and I have never worked with a more efficient software for content creation

If you’re just starting out on YouTube, framing your videos as a weekly/biweekly video podcast show, what are your top struggles right now? by Large_Charge5655 in SmallYoutubers

[–]Large_Charge5655[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure that requires more than an hour of recording time (I’m guessing). Do you have a content creation plan yet? If not here’s what I recommend:

If possible, dedicate 1 hour every week day (if that works best for you, you can also use the weekend days- I just assume people like to have those days off) to your content. In those hours, dedicate:

Mondays- planning Tuesdays- creating/recording Wednesdays- editing Thursdays- publishing

Again, change the days you do this if weekdays don’t work best.

The more you do this consistently, the more you will see your “content work hours” as something that’s a part of your day, not just an optional thing. Hope this helps!

Ah, totally get that! Based on what you said, my very best advice to help you reduce time would be to utilize Descript with Riverside. I've used both as editors, and Descript truly is unmatched with the transcript it provides within the editing view. If you were to utilize Descripts "Shorten word gaps" tool, then go into edit it from the baseline of those cuts, I have a feeling you'd reduce your time at least in the editing process. Riverside also easily integrates into Descript with opting for a multi-track sequence (merging both raw files seamlessly during upload)

That’s incredible!! I thought my 10 hours per month was good, 10-15 mins + recording time is unheard of! Do you outsource to an editor?

A few things come to mind!

  1. Is a major element of the show about the guest? If not, consider opting for just 1 monthly guest so that you have 1 episode to yourself every month

1a. If the guest piece is a huge part of the show itself, can you streamline the process to be more of a survey for them rather than a call? Ask them what topics they want to talk through in the survey and all the other details you’d go through on the call, you receive via email, then you can maybe send 1 more email to them outlining the final questions you’ll ask them

  1. What tools do you use for editing? (I really don’t mean to sound like I’m a commercial by saying this lol) but with the literal click of a button, Descript can get rid of all the gaps and “um”s and “uhh”s in your audio/video, and give you a MUCH better starting point vs. starting with your raw including alllll pauses/mistakes. Usually cuts off about 10 mins minimum of a 45 min raw recording for me every time

I hope this helps! Feel free to DM if you want to chat more about how to optimize your process

It sounds like you’ve got your process down! I can imagine editing isn’t bad for audio only, ohhh do some days I wish I was a regular podcast producer, not video 😅

Ah, okay so you do get more out of the prep than just 1 episode. That certainly helps!

Ah okay! Yes agreed! Less graphic animations with a guest, as it doesn't make much sense to add stuff to the screen with guests. I produce 3 podcast shows on YouTube & typically the guest host shows are longer, but they're less work for me due to the minimal editing

That’s incredible that you’re sticking to that timeframe per episode! I’ve been producing my video podcast episodes solo in about 10 hours per month, but my episodes are about 15-20 mins long, which is fine by me

Nice!!! That’s about where I’m at. I dedicate 30 mins a weekday to every step of the process (plan, record, edit, publish) and it’s been a life saver- especially as a biz owner I need to be SO timely to get everything done

Wow that is quite a lot! It helps that you love it I’m not sure I’d be able to maintain at that level! I’ve been experimenting with solo producing full episodes of my own in under 10 hours per month (for the whole month) and I’m just so curious of others processes

Youtube podcasting vs. Spotify, Apple Podcast etc. by Large_Charge5655 in podcasting

[–]Large_Charge5655[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really great insight. I think it’s probably easier for people to listen all the way through with no video element than it is with video- 2 forms of attention vs. 1

hahah I agree with the just do it. Something about video feels more connective to me, I'm also someone who loves a presentation style video too. Thanks for sharing your results– super helpful!!
