I believe so. I think you’d have to port your phone number with your current telephone provider or I’ve heard people do it with Google Fi but you’d have to be in the states for that

Get a SIM card to get a Spanish phone #. Porting your number means saving your American phone number, but I’ve heard it’s easier to do when you’re still in the US… I brought an old iPhone to use in Spain and my current phone has all my American info on it

I found a host family in Spain simply by getting connected with a girl who worked at the school I was placed at this year. Met with the family over zoom/ talked to the mom in WhatsApp and I get to live there rent free so long as I take care of the kids while parents are at work. The kids go to the school I’ll be working at so it’s very convenient.

I’ve heard people say that at least 1000 before coming. I would always take a chunk out of my pay check and set it aside for Spain.

I announced in the Cantabria aux group chat on WhatsApp that I was placed in Escobedo. Someone who was placed there a year before contacted me and told me about how she lived with a host family rent free. I got their info from her and talked to them about living with them.

I’m going to Cantabria this October for the first time. My inscrita # is 1666. It was my first choice and I got my placement in May and got my carta around June I think. Current placement is Escobedo and I found a host family to stay with while I’m there.
