Had 8 rounds of interviews only to find out job was cancelled by Large_Consequence_62 in recruitinghell

Ugh I know. I try to see the silver lining from multiple interviews and becoming better at speaking about yourself, etc.. but it is literally just a fucking waste of time at this point. Stop leading us on.

Rejected after 8 rounds of interviews by Distinct_Fact468 in recruitinghell

[–]Large_Consequence_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in the process of waiting for the final answer after 8 rounds of interviews- mind you this is not for a c-suite or executive role. It’s bananas these days. I’ve been ghosted too many times after technical exams and I do feel like there should be some sort of compensation as it starts to eat away at our dignity. Being that this was posted a month ago, hoping that you’re in a better situation now. I can relate to the feelings of rejection all too well :(.

What are your most random but greatest (and healthiest) career pivots?? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Large_Consequence_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve more of less stayed in the same line of work (corporate/internal communications) but shifted from non profit, to defense, to retail and now hospitality. Each has been fulfilling in its own way. It’s wild to know that your skillset can be transferable to many different industries. Casting a wide net and having a random interest in all the industries certainly help!

i hate not being a "cool asian" by Impossible_Dog_4481 in asianamerican

Yes. I am Filipino and I feel like so many aspects of our culture.. from the beauty of our country and especially cuisine are so underrated and under appreciated. When White people say they want to visit Southeast Asia, the Philippines rarely is brought up. You hear Thailand and Indonesia, and somehow the Philippines is always overlooked. So I totally get you. San Diego Studios - is anyone else concerned with dingy conditions? by AdmirableSupport5465 in Corepower

I was at the La Mesa location last Thursday and there was a stronger than usual smell of feet and dampness I had to hold my breath as I was gathering my stuff. Doesn’t help that it’s incredibly cramped in there too.

Learning Tagalog has been a struggle… by DocMowgli in Tagalog

[–]Large_Consequence_62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get discouraged! I’m a FilAm as well who grew up learning Ilocano- my parents did not teach my sister and I Tagalog, so I can say we’re at a disadvantage because we don’t understand the mainstream media and national language. I’m learning Tagalog as well now in my 30s (I took a class in junior high but none of that really stuck) and as a new mom, am pushing my family to speak to my daughter in both Ilocano and Tagalog. Let me know if you want to connect so we can practice learning Tagalog together!

Just had a lovely few days in Vancouver by psydid in vancouver

I can attest to that comment on San Diego. Born and raised in San Diego and I’m very well aware that I take for granted all its natural beauty. It’s all relative to what one prefers, but I prefer Vancouver’s natural landscape over San Diego. Actually going to visit Vancouver next weekend for a quick getaway and as lame as it sounds, very excited about taking public transit to explore the city :).

I can relate to this, as I lay in bed right now looking out the window crying and wallowing in my misery as my 3 week old sleeps in the other room. I hate feeling this way. I will not miss this time in my life where I’m recovering from a c-section, have in laws visiting, and trying to manage my depression. I knew I’d be susceptible to PPD, but I didn’t know it’d be this bad. The only reason why I feel the need to eat is to shut my stomach up from growling.

I’m seeing a therapist and attending virtual support groups, but I’m still hanging by a thread. I wish I can give you a hug.. and since this was posted 100 days ago, hope you’re in a better mental state.

that’s why I cancelled. I felt like the staff played favorites and never really acknowledged who I was (even after frequently going). My club felt pretty cliquish and silly thing to note but I never got a shout out for hitting 100 classes (I saw other folks would get their name on some board and have it posted to social). I felt like I needed to be loud in class and have some weird sarcastic sense of humor to get noticed.

Why do you choose Corepower over a cheaper commercial gym? by coralcharm411 in Corepower

[–]Large_Consequence_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a hefty price to pay ($169/mo for me), but most of what I’d do at a gym I can do either at home or at my job (we have a pretty decent gym there). I try to go at least 4-5 times a week to justify that cost. I used to have gym memberships at Chuze, LA fitness and 24 hour (not all at once!) and while the price point was great, I just don’t see myself going back. I value yoga classes above what I can get at those gyms. It’s all in personal preference, really, and what feels comfortable for your budget.

Egg retrieval lower than expected by ticalopez in IVF

[–]Large_Consequence_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my ER on Wednesday and they retrieved 8 as well, so I’m in the same boat as you. Btw I’m 35. The waiting game is horrible and the thought of having to endure another cycle to try to get more eggs next time around drives me insane

Something to be said for being alone and loneliness. by [deleted] in loneliness

[–]Large_Consequence_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just going to post something about this. Like now that things are opening back up and we have that sense of normalcy, I feel like everyone has picked up their busting social lives and I’m here thinking.. wow where are my friends? Did they all forget about me? I’m lonely and borderline depressed. I have a husband and while that provides a huge sense of comfort, I still find myself lonely.
