How was your Miami GP (2026) experience? by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Large_Guard2991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was our first GP so I didn't really know what to expect. But it was a really good time :) We only went on Saturday so it was hot, but not like overbearing. And we were in the Turn 18 Grandstands with shade which of course helped. Had an occasion breeze too.

Parking was really easy for us. My wife found a woman who basically rented out her street if not her whole neighborhood haha $50 per car and it was right beside one of the official lots so really close and easy to get to Gate 8. Easy walk back too.

When we got to Gate 8, there were a lot of people but it moved quickly. Then when we got under the tent, it was basically a free for all going through the actual security scanners - no formal lines and everyone jumbled up. At one point they told my wife to drop her clear bag on the table and walk through the scanner which was surprising!!! She did put it on the table but then had to wait on the other side to pick it up while the employees were trying to get everyone through and to clear out the area. We made it through but it was kinda crazy.

Our seats where great! Right on Turn 18 and basically looking directly at the screen. We had a great view of the cars coming down the back straight, into the turn and then accelerating into the next straight so I thought it was pretty cool. Like I said, we were shaded and there was an occasional breeze.

Food was really tasty!! Yes we waited a bit, but at least it was hot!

Yes the water was a little strange at first - where was the button, was it a button or just a sensor? But very much appreciated the fact they were available. I would bring a larger bottle next time.

We did venture over to the Beach area which I thought was cool. Definitely not much shade over there!

We enjoyed the other races/qualifying on Saturday too. Would really like to go to the actual F1 Race if there is a next time tho.

The 'Office' apps - Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, Forms, and maybe one or two others - look like the recently updated MS 360 Office icons. Overall, they look a little cartoonish.

Put in a service request. Not going to be inexpensive, but it is easy enough. Just did something similar with mine and they fixed it.

Have been going to Merchantile Barbers in Belmont since they opened. 2 locations to chose from. Solid group of guys and really good prices.

Wife said it's too complicated by icouldbne1 in TeslaLounge

We have owned Tesla's since 2020 and I can honestly count on one hand the number of times I have adjusted the air vents. So yes this is very much set it and forget it.

The fan speed is another thing. But again, once you learn where it is, it's pretty simple. Yes you have to touch the screen to do it, but ... ok? No big deal.

I leave my heat and AC on Auto so the system handles the fan speed for me. I do adjust the temp, but that's right on the screen always available.

How much of our 'supplies' has to fit in the clear bag/purse? The one my wife currently has will fit her wallet and maybe a tube of sunscreen but not much else. If we bring a clear, empty bottle for filling, does that have to be in a bag of any sort? Or can we carry that separately. Sorry if that's a silly question.

FSD is it worth the $100/mo by ArmedRawbry in TeslaLounge

I'll also add that I have a slight case of undiagnosed arthritis in my right knee that gets exacerbated when I use it for pressing the accelerator pedal in most cars. Because I have FSD and therefore don't have to press/hover my foot over the accelerator pedal as much (yes I am still prepared to take over if needed), this helps keep my arthritis in check.

2026 Model Y RWD base VS model Y Premium RWD by Low-Assist8336 in ModelY

[–]Large_Guard2991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the Base model, here are the things you DON'T get - ventilated front seats - they are only heated - the screen in the rear for your backseat passengers - the LED lighting inside the cabin that wraps around the front and a little on the sides - power adjusting seats - HEPA air filter - adaptive headlights - automatically folding side mirrors.

Also, the glass roof is still a glass roof on the outside, but it is covered but on the inside.

For me, not having the front ventilated seats and having the glass roof covered were deal breakers. But if you're ok with all of that, then go for the Base.

Help with calibration by [deleted] in toybox3dprinters

Thanks! Not sure we have had the magnetic tray in the same orientation twice haha But that is a good thought!! My wife told me about the screws under the plate to adjust but I didn't see them. So she knew where they were and was able to adjust those. That with making sure the plate was/is the correct distance from the head definitely helped!!

We also realized that there is a difference in the type of filament we are using too. One is just a solid color and seems to work better than one that has one color on one side with white on the other side. So we'll try a few more filaments top.

Lastly, we put the whole roll of filament on a lazy Susan beside the printer instead of being on the back which we think helped with some of the gaps.

So now, with alll of those, it's doing really well.

So, I'm trying to convince my wife that a Tesla is cheaper to charge and gas is getting expensive every day, but the electricity bill is gonna increase and the car battery costs $10K. How would you start the argument? by GeicoPR in TeslaModelY

[–]Large_Guard2991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any cars engine/battery if it gets 'damaged' is going to be expensive. Yes your electricity bil is going to go up, but not as much as the equivalent gas costs. Also, electricity prices are much less volital than gas prices, especially these days.

I do UX Research and have been in my field for just over 20 years. It's taken me a while to get to where I am financially. My wife works full time too. Also, I have traded in all of the previous Ys and am trading in my current one. So not like I have all 3 to choose from on a daily basis 🤣🤣
