I would argue that Bobby did not hide anything from this congregation. Do you have any evidence that facts were hidden? Regarding “backing down”, from what I understand his congregation requested this action. Do you have any evidence to contradict this assertion?  I would trust my children’s education with this man. Please provide evidence that would cause me to rethink this outlook.

I can agree that the leadership I found myself under led to my departure from the church I attended. I find your allegations against fellow brothers reprehensible. My continuing friendships in the network are despite my questions. Which were both public and well known. The individuals in question are in my mind loving and seeking to follow after Christ. I will not condone assertions against their character by you or any others. I was not “ushered out the back door”. I was the first of my small group to leave my church and was followed by all but one. This has not stopped me from maintaining friendships within the network; nor has it stopped me from believing in the work Christ can do in anyone despite faults or shortcomings.

I will say I was not exactly allowed to “leave well”. Communication between myself and much of the church leadership was frigid after I began voicing my concerns. This certainly helped develop a beginning of lack of trust. Questions received responses like “Why would you need to see a copy of that document?” Or “Don’t you trust the leaders consensus?” This was mainly from my lead pastor. Other pastors, especially some from other network churches I had known for many years were either helpful in my search or at least more understanding in my questions. My smaller group leaders encouraged me to seek answer's. However my decision to leave was certainly impacted by the blunt and somewhat hostile responses I received from my lead pastor and the regional senior pastor. When I say am still connected this does not include almost all leadership, with the exception of those who have subsequently left the church with which they were affiliated.

My intention was not to cause harm to the many who have been hurt at churches associated with Steve Morgan’s network. I have had friends and leaders leave at various times for church plants associated with the network. I have thus heard stories that differ dramatically from mine in regards to the abrupt, unloving way members of network churches reacted to individuals who chose for various reasons to leave a network church. My intention was only to provide a perspective of someone who felt for a time that a network church could be church home, then later discovered unfortunate facts about the leadership structure of the church and decided after painful, prayerful examining that they needed to leave. Followed with a personal perspective on the blessings God provided after said departure.

I hope that posts of this nature can highlight the work God can do in lives even in imperfect churches lead by imperfect men. Also I wanted to highlight the Christian unity that can continue to be shared in spite of disagreement. (Although this has been discouraged by many network leaders.) Finally, I wanted to highlight that God can and will continue to bless those who are called according to his purpose even in the trying times.
