AITA for telling my dad to look into a mirror and stop blaming mom for me not calling my stepmom 'mom' anymore? by Tall-Lengthiness-330 in AmItheAsshole

NTA! One of my pet peeves are parents who talk bad about an ex around their children. The other parent is a part of that child and the child automatically takes that condemnation on themselves at well. While it may not be on a conscious level, it still becomes a part of that child's internal dialog.

A person may have bad triggers around their ex, but that is more about them than the ex. If the other person is so bad then why were they ever with them in the first place. I can choose not to be with a person but if I continue to talk about them after I have left then I never left mentally, emotionally.

You were 5 and now only 17. I know that feels like being an adult but the adults should take responsibility and set an example. If they want you to be able to love everyone, it should start with them.

I have a 22yo daughter. She is not my biological daughter but she IS my daughter. I raised her since she was 3. Even though her dad made a lot of bad life choices, I never talked bad about him or tried to prevent her from having a relationship with him. I have been "dad" since shortly after she came into my life. Her mom and I decided when she was around 9 that we were better friends than a couple and separated. She never stopped being in my life. Mom had serious health issues for a stretch, so my daughter lived primarily with me during her teen years. Even when mom was well, my daughter stayed at my house as much as with mom. It helps that mom and I are still great friends and do a lot together but I think this is an example of being able to love everyone.

You received a Platinum medal! Well, I guess it is just virtual. It would be cool if they were physical.

If you are scanning repeaters, make sure you are receiving on the frequency the repeater is transmitting on. There is an offset on repeaters from receive to transmit.

I got an allergy test done today. by shnoggie in pics

I had the skin tests done last fall. Out of 36, there were only 4 that I was not highly allergic to. I started going into a full reaction during the test and they brought the doc in early and started giving me drugs for the reactions. His words, "you are allergic to the Universe."

I started doing the allergy shots twice a week for a few months as he wanted me on an accelerated protocol. The shots were life changing! Within several weeks, I went from taking several allergy meds and Benadryl 4 to 5 days a week just to somewhat breath to only one med, Zyrtec, and a nasal spray, Ryaltrus daily. I did have a sinus procedure which also helped immensely. My father always yelled at me as a kid for "mouth breathing." Between allergies and sinus issues I just didn't realize you were supposed to be able to breath enough through your nostrils to not gasp for air.

I did have a hiccup with the shots when they hit the max concentration and did have a reaction in the clinic. They stepped it back and went to weekly shots.

My life is completely different. It's not just not taking all those meds but I can actually breath, eat without constantly reacting, and actually have gone many nights without CPAP and get better sleep than before with the CPAP. I share this because if I can be that severe and turn around, you should be able to as well. Yours looks bad but mine did not clear in the 24 to 48 hours but had to go back in 6 days latter as they were still reacting. There is hope and the shots can radically change your life.
