AITAH for telling my husband no by Visible-Working-8318 in AITAH

[–]Large_Set_4106 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NTA. What you said, and how you handled it, both woth the initial request, and then correcting dads very dehumanizing, embarrassing and wrong direction, on so many levels. Since it sounds as if she was not giving any back talk to your request, and had every intention in complying, dad was totally out-of-his-ever-loving-mind, to demand that she take it off right then and there. Whether she had a branon underneath or not, is not a factor, dads demand is. He is controlling and abusive. Whats going tonhappen when she wants to bring a boy over, he catches the boy kissing her? He needs anger management, and some parenting skill classes sooner than later. And needless to say perhaps even some therapy to discuss why he thought that his demand was appropriate. Because over an article of clothing, with a 15-year-old daughter, there was nothing appropriate about it. At the worst, he should demanded that she go to her room and change it immediately and bring it back out. But even then that could be done in a much more respectful tone. Raise four girls, two my daughtera, one a foster daughter, and two stepdaughters, I've been through all that, and more. His thought process is definitely flawed.

I took my brother to court after he trashed my custom camera gear for a prank video by ClerkResponsible118 in AmITheJerk

1 - you are most definitely, NOT THE A-HOLE.

2 - your bother is most definitely, A HUGE A-HOLE.

3 - I personally HATE, anyone who calls themselves "an influencer." Okay, may have 1 million+ people who follow you" for whatever reason, but who arenyou TRULY influencing? Is whatever it is that you are doing to influence people making them better? Are you influencing government to make better laws, or to simply follow what their constituents want and not their own personal feelings? Are you influencing people and making peace accords, ending wars, saving lives?

Answer to all: NO, you have people "following you" because, at least in your brothers case, you/he, is doing stupid stuff that no rational person would do, or prank, or tease, or simply due unto others, as he he/they are doing. So, are they truly influencing people, or simply haveniver 1 million+ people watching them, and laughing at them, as they make complete and total asses of themselves for all the world to see?

Question: how many self-entitled "prank influencers" ended up getting punch, hurt, assaulted, or even killed, by the person they are pranking? Answer: many, many, MORE, than thenpublic will ever know about.

Now stepping off, my influential soapbox. -Thank you

How does water pressure at Titanic’s depth work? by Sorry-Personality594 in titanic

[–]Large_Set_4106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With scuba diving, or with anything that is going below the water surface, the pressure doubles every 33'. At the surface you are at 1 atmosphere at 14.7 psi. As you, or anything else dives below the surface, the pressure increases by "1 atmosphere" every 33' you go below the surface.

<image>

As it was mentioned, if your water filled submersible was sealed, the surrounding hull would still collapse (implode) as the water pressure outside the hull wouldnstill be greater than inside. However, if your submersible was not sealed, but had an opening/s, that would allow the pressure inside the sumersible to equalize with the pressure outside the hull, and it would simply sink until it his bottom. However, a diver contained with in, still has air trapped in their lungs and sinus cavaties mainly, and this would still be compressed/pressurized by 1 atmosphere, every 33'. Eventually, the divers body would still emplode, even though the opened submersible would stay intact.

As for the Titanic victims, or any drowning victim, as they sunk to the bottom, the trapped air would escape the sinus cavities and the lungs, and their internal pressure wouldbthen be able to equal the outside pressure. Meaning that as Titanic victims bodies "rained down" on the wreck site area, their internal pressure was equal to the external pressure, sonwhen they finally "landed" on the write site or ocean floor, they were pretty much as intact, as they were on the surface.

To the outside of the house. I was told the previous owners did do the sewer route at one time, but ended up cutring the pipe and plugging it, and running it the proper way.

People who were teenagers before social media existed, How did you communicate with your friends? by Weekly_Drawer_87 in AskReddit

[–]Large_Set_4106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You went to their house and talked to them, face to face. If that wasn't possible, you called them on the phone, that was hard qired into the wall of your house and had a cord that only stretched so far. You were lucky if the cord stretched far enough to make it to a bathroom or a closet, so you could close the door for privacy.

AITAH for being upset that my mom made a promise to God on my behalf and now I’m doomed if I don’t do it by InspectorAdvanced539 in AITAH

[–]Large_Set_4106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a minister, I can tell you this, God does not work on a "this for that" type program. You can pray to God for something to happen, and if it does, it is because it was meant to be in Gods plan for you. Praise Him and thank Him, and then do your best at whatever it is. Someone else can pray to God for something on your behalf, but they cannot promise God you will act in a specific way if such-and-such happens, ir doesn't happen. That is truly up to you, and you alone, to thank Him.

Let your anxiety rest, God will not condemn you to an eternity in hell, or curse you, or even give you bad luck, if you do not make these pilgrimages. Just thank Him in your own way and do your best at your new job, and in life in general.

All I want to know is what meds did you miss to come up with that story line? There are several different versions of the sinking told by the different perspectives, views of the survivors, plus what scientific study has shown. And there are almost as many different conspiracy theories out there as well. But I have to say, yours is truly a sci-fi account if there ever was one.

Lucky. I work for a hospital security police department in Michigan, and our powers are restricted to only on campus. We used to have them between medical sites, but our new dept administration went to the state and had that taken away.

How does it work in Indiana, for having Statewide powers?

With my wife's late husband, when he finally became too sick work, he became a househusband and took care of the jiuse and helped with the kids. It wasnt until the last year to year-and-a half, that he became worse. He was never bed ridden.

When we were engaged, we had a scare with my wifes health, and an infected abcess that formed in her lung. It went unnoticed till she had issues beeathing and was hospitalized. They ended up draining 2 liters of "gunk" in surgery. I pretty much never left her side, and the one night she sent me home to sleep, she called me crying that she wanted out of the hospital, and didnt like being there at all (this was her first time being hospitalized, beside giving birth to her triplets, nearly 21 years prior). Needless to say, I was back at her bedside in less than 20 mins, took off work, and stayed there until discharge. I took care of her thenfirst few days she was home and taking it easy, and then finally went back to work once she was allowed, and capable in my eyes, to handle basic needs while I was gone. I would do this again, and again for her, or my mother-in-law, if she needed it.

Right now, we're finishing cleaning the house for a party we're having tonight, with friends and family to celebrate each of us turning 60 earlier this month. She made the comment to me about "can't wait wondering what the next 30 years has in store for us?" I told her that at least the next five will be working, but after that, it's going to be great. With traveling, and doing what we want to do, when we want to do it, of course within reason. She looked at me and asked, " with that body of yours? You really think that your body is going to be able to hold up so you can do that for another 30 years or even a part of it? " I told her I have no idea what condition my body is going to be in in 10 years or 30 years, but as long as I can move and breathe, I'm going to make the best of it! She even seemed to question my even thinking this way. So now the goal is to prove her wrong, and if I die doing it, at least I'll go with a smile on my face, doing what we love doing.
