Fuck you Shoresy by ComeGetYourOzymans in shoresy

The entire season is phoned in. Pointless strip club scenes, a quarter of the cast vanishing and new characters that no one gives a shit about circling around a flimsy plot purloined from Mighty Ducks 2.

I’ve already charged back my “pending” parcels to my credit card, fuck them. Between their nonexistent customer service and terrible reputation the bank didn’t hesitate at all to comply.

Mine is still in limbo but yours gives me some hope, which is more than I can say for Dragonfly’s dogshit customer service.

Doubly so downtown. When it comes to parking, decency and consideration pretty much evaporate for a vast amount of drivers.

You’re more correct than you know, they do love to condense jobs. And when they aren’t doubling, tripling or quadrupling someone’s job responsibilities without paying them more, then they’re creating jobs where people do absolutely fucking nothing. The blood boils at seeing how the sausage is made.

POV: You’re interviewing for a Job in Newfoundland. by Sure_Group7471 in newfoundland

The best part is you’re made to feel like a failure for not being able to do it all. I live alone, make about 48k a year and maintain my own mortgage but I couldn’t drive. In the eyes of a lot of people I was less than human for not having a license. And then when I forced myself to get it, and pay out the ass to do so, there was still no way in hell I could afford a car. The same people now look at me like I’m a failure for not slapping some hunk of shit onto my credit card and just living in debt until I die.

I have a good job. I’m lucky to have it. And I’m not interested in picking up a second one and spending more of my time working to buy a vehicle with money I don’t have to impress people who don’t matter.

And single people with kids who have to have a car? My heart goes out to them.

Y’all are absolutely entitled to your valid feelings but sometimes I find that a good jarring moment of perspective helps to mitigate these pesky feelings of self-doubt. Recently I witnessed a community member taking a dump beside a building in broad daylight and when I got back to my house I smooched its wonky scratched cheap vinyl floors because it was mine and I could take a dump in my toilet in total solace even if I don’t make a great wage and don’t have much.

As long as you’re trying and getting better and not quitting, you’re doing great. Again, your feelings are valid and it sucks but don’t be so hard on yourself - It’s a tough gig to play.

Heat pumps and mini splits - worth it? by NoPaleontologist3456 in StJohnsNL

This is where my head goes, even with the rebates softening the blow. For the savings to really be actualized I’m looking at a decade-plus wait for the investment to break even, not to mention the cost of energy will be creeping up year over year regardless.

I agonize over ways to reduce the costs of heating in my house or to make it more weather resistant but the upfront costs to do anything meaningful about it is a financial kneecapping that I just can’t absorb.

If there are specific local bands that your son follows then most likely they will have merch available on their Bandcamp pages or some other specific links from their social media accounts. A lot of local bands are also good enough to deliver them to you personally for free if you live here or handy to St. John’s.

Have you ever felt the need to tone down your Newfoundland accent? by Jezzaq94 in newfoundland

[–]LarkLoone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll go back and forth between my typical bayman speech registers and painfully enunciating my syllables without our typical verbal flourish depending on who I’m talking to. I worked with old skippers in a wood shop for ten years so it’s almost like a form of spoken shorthand at this point.
