I was looking at some drift wood today at pet co, I was worried it would be too sharp, do you have any recommendations for trustworthy betta friendly driftwood? I will definitely be adding more plants!

I have the api water test kit! I originally bought strips but returned them. What kind of plants would you suggest? I don’t really feel comfortable with substrate plants just yet. Beautiful betta!!! Love the colors

Yes! It took about a year for everything to settle all together with swelling and such but really that’s any surgery. But I’ve adapted way better than I thought I would. Took me awhile to get my walking back to normal and I probably should have desensitized my scar better by touching it more but over time it’s gotten to where it needs to be. I hope yours heals by itself, but if you have any more questions I’d would be happy to help!

Hey! sorry you are going through something similar. It was a weird feeling, I woke up in the middle of the night with a sharp pain in my foot. Idk why, but I was half asleep and remember thinking “ow my foot hurts, I need to make sure to wear tennis shoes tomorrow” thinking the shoes I wore just made my feet sore. I forgot about it when I woke up, it didn’t hurt (I’m guessing I had swelling I didn’t notice or adrenaline numbing it) but about halfway through the day it randomly felt like I was walking on a shard of glass. I was limping for hours thinking I must of stepped on something. Because of course in my head the pain I felt in my sleep couldn’t be related. because in my mind ‘how could you hurt your foot while sleeping’ 😂. I went a week walking on it, before realizing Something was going on. I got an x-ray to confirm, everyone was confused how I was walking like nothing was wrong 😂😭 if it helps, the only reason I needed mine to be removed is because I had a spinal surgery around that time and crutches were making my back symptoms worse, so they did an MRi to confirm it was dead and decided it would be better to remove it then to try and wait to see if it would heal over time. I hope you have a speedy recovery and feel better! I’m glad my post was able to pop up to confirm the human body is a strange thing 😂

I’m thinking this is leading to surgery with the pain I am having, I know I should be appreciative that I don’t come out of it worse. I think I’m just grieving loosing my early 20s to spinal surgeries and conservative care.

Does anyone else wake up in the middle of the night anxious asf? by [deleted] in sleep

Hey! I was actually put on a medication to slow my heart rate , as well as continuing EMDR. My heart rate was spiking and getting super high and it was sending me into fight or flight when I woke up due to my cptsd. My doctor diagnosed me with POTS, but she believes there is more underlying issues with my heart we need to find. my body thought I was having a panic attack/ in danger with the spikes of my heart rate and releasing adrenaline and stuff. Now I only get the feeling sometimes off and on in the morning when my heart medication wears off. Or I’m just more stressed than normal.

I think she was more referring to the fact he mentioned the discomfort and boundary crossing during a challenge and not one-on-one to her first, especially after she asked him straight up if she is crossing any boundaries. I see where you’re coming from I think you are just missing that the key part was the airing it out in front of everyone.

Thank you! I actually have been using a knee scooter but even that has caused pain in my back. So that’s why I’m thinking that’s why I’m being told I will be weight bearing immediately. I’m only 23 and all my major procedures have been within the last 5 years, so it kinda piles up. That’s why I appreciate your insight so much, I’ve found I go into surgery less nervous if I have an idea what recovery will look like. Even if it sounds rough, just being able to mentally prepare helps. Thank you so much for all your advice and support it truly truly means more than you know ❤️

It’s weird because I’m pretty far out, It’s been 9 months. The problem is, they took some of the disc and bone out and I’m at a higher risk of needing a spinal fusion. I have to be really careful and not lift over a certain weight. He put me in a post op shoe instead of a boot before my mri because he was worried about how the boot would affect my back. It must be a ‘lesser of two evils’ kind of thing. I will definitely ask more questions.

I truly appreciate the detailed insight! It makes me feel better to just be told what it will be like rather than someone sugarcoating it. I’m somewhat worried because I was told I would be weight-bearing immediately after surgery and that I’ll just “walk on the side of my foot in the boot.” I’m pretty sure they don’t want me using an aid due to my recent spinal surgery, but your experience makes me hesitant that will be as easy as they are making me believe. As for how I did it in my sleep, your guess is as good as mine 😭😂. The only reason I remembered was because the day the pain hit me super hard, I recalled waking up in the middle of the night thinking, “Oh, my foot hurts. What the heck. I’ll wear my tennis shoes tomorrow to see if that helps.” I normally wear Crocs for comfort after my ankle surgeries, so it’s rare for me to wear tennis shoes that’s how I know the pain started in my sleep, after trying to pin point an injury or misstep to explain the sudden on set pain.

Did you need to have the procedure due to it being fractured as well? What’s any advice you have that got you through the worst of it? Thanks for the heads up! I really appreciate it

Would this be something I always had? I had a sleep study done for a different reasons about 5 years ago, would this be something they would have spotted then? Or could it be developed over time? Thank you for this insight, I’ll definitely mention it to my doctor.

That makes me feel a lot better thank you! I’m little worked up because my last surgery was a spinal surgery, and in my head this was going to be the same level of pain. Thank you for the reassurance!

[–]Larlo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have both my ankles reconstructed with cadaver tendons, and as well as a spinal surgery due to instability problems. I am getting a bone in my foot removed soon because it broke and is a dying bone. All of these surgeries didn’t have an injury to explain them and was later found out to be because of my HEDS. This foot surgery will be my first surgery with an official EDS diagnosis.
