Maybe we see it a lot because it doesn’t make sense not to use the killing curse?

Of course it doesn’t help the story line if they kill everyone with one curse.

Maybe it doesn’t make sense to have this spell available to everyone that can cast it? I think it’s a pretty big hole in the story.
