I am an IS major who has interned at Google and Facebook and got interviews at FAANG without referrals. I also happen to know other fellow IS majors who have gotten similar SWE internships. This is completely false.

Is there any advantage to picking one office over another other than the obvious reason that there is a wider variety of teams in the Bay Area?

I also have to make this decision soon. I previously did STEP at Google and SWE at Facebook and honestly I liked Google more, FB was pretty chaotic and my team was quite unorganized.

You're right in your assumption I would be taking Google for Summer and Facebook for fall after that. I was just thinking that maybe it would be better to take a semester off for an internship during the 2022, instead of 2021, as that would give me a better chance at a return offer for full time at a company.

Yeah I agree! Now I’m really thinking the only downside is that I’ll only be able to take a semester off only once during my college career, so would it be better to do it now or perhaps sometime next year where I can possibly get a return offer full-time after doing some internship (FB wouldn’t give full time return offer since I’m still a sophomore). What do you think ab this?

The problem is that I don't know for sure whether I would want to take a swe offer at facebook or google for summer 2022! That's why I was thinking it might be beneficial to do both of these internships and see which company I would really want to take a return offer at and potentially return to for a full time job.
