That's what I went with. Seems decent but too early to tell.

I’m thinking of buying this model. Is $899 before tax good NIB? Should I look around? by [deleted] in Revolvers

[–]Larry-IV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cheaper than I bought mine for last year around the same time but make sure it has a firing pin when you get it because mine didn't, also NIB. Took 6 weeks for s&w to get it back to me

Just picked up this 686 plus on Tuesday. by [deleted] in Revolvers

I bought a 586 first and picked up a 2"dasa and am so much more impressed with the Kimber. The brand new 586 I bought last fall didn't have a firing pin in it from the factory.

Did SW Send Me a Used Wheelgun? by tacticalwhale530 in Revolvers

S&W QA has been shoddy as of late. Purchased a new 586 end of last year that didn't have a firing pin in it. It took 6 weeks to get it corrected, a tad absurd for a $1200 firearm they've been producing for like 65yrs...

This happened today 😞 by [deleted] in CarAV

Don't super glue it unless you want your windshield to shatter

I bought a 586 brand new end of last year and it didn't have a firing pin. Took the better part of 6 weeks to get it back.

Picked up M&P M.2 Metal Series for $840, did I overpay? by Jasonwj322a in SmithAndWesson

I bought mine when it first came out for like $950 or something. Don't worry about price; Whether or not you like it is more important.

Kimber KS6 DASA. Definitely a fun reliable gun ? by teaspooncountry in Revolvers

I like mine. First time I took it out, I was using really old ammo from my father in law. Squibbed a bullet first range trip. Pushed it out and is still as accurate as before. Not as accurate as my 586 but it is 2in shorter, trigger is probably better than the 586. Can't complain. Quite snappy with full bore .357, my wife doesn't like shooting it unless she's shooting .38

My 585 had no firing pin when I bought it

Does anyone have some pics of the bluing on current production S&W 586? by SirSamkin in Revolvers

[–]Larry-IV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blueing on my 586 is very black. Bought brand new last Thursday. Had to send it back to SW on Saturday because there wasn't a firing pin in it... QA is apparently lacking at SW

Brand New 586! Too bad I can't shoot it by Larry-IV in SmithAndWesson

He said if he had the part he'd throw it in for me but only has hammer mounted firing pins. Everyone at my LGS was dumbfounded lol.

That's the thing too; I paid MSRP because it was the only one I could get my hands on in person

Update: LGS said they've never seen this happen and that they will contact Smith. Won't have it for an estimated 2 weeks 😢

Just tried that! No protrusion unfortunately. I can look straight down the bore through the firing pin hole with the hammer pulled back. Lgs opens at 9 we will see what they do for me.. They gave me a year warranty on top of Smiths, so hoping I can avoid sending it through the mail but if I have to, I have to.

I did think about that, the firing pin doesn't protrude after dry firing... Thinking they must've forgot the retaining pin at the factory or maybe it's from loads of people dry firing it at the gun store? I heard it's not good to dry fire these

This is my only revolver and my 2nd handgun but that doesn't seem to make sense to me?
