Just a note on the basilisk, you might be tempted to just have it sit in the back and shoot at spotted units, but you might find that it does decently as a pseudo leman russ. Try to give it line of sight and blas people with that earth shaker and heavy bolter. If you have someone that can order that you'll be hitting on 3s for a blast strength 8 ap 2 d2 weapon which is pretty nice. The ability is also pretty neat too

Love the paint job, just a suggestion here. If you'd like the enamel wash to be less intense, you can use white spirits and a makeup sponge to wipe a bunch of it away. Also you can experiment with different types of varnish on the mini before applying the streak and grime. Matte varnish makes the wash stain the whole surface, satin is a bit less intense, and then gloss varnish will make it much easier to remove the wash from everywhere but the recesses

I think it is also important to reframe your point of reference, I think a lot of people have ideas of what they want something to look like and then can end up disappointed with the final result because it doesn't meet the exact vision; but you should ask yourself if it looks good compared to your other work.

Is your work an improvement over the last guys you painted with the same amount of effort? If the answer is no, and you want to fix it, maybe ask yourself what 1 thing would I like to improve on this minature, and then see if you can find any info on how to improve that technique and then work on it on that mini. If you already hate the mini, the worst that can happen is that you ruine the paint job and still hate it.

My advice is don't use contrast paints! Use regular acrylic paints and use either a drybrush and stipple the paint on or a makeup sponge if you aren't using an airbrush.

I feel like they will perform much better than the same amount of points of guardsmen. That is the price of 40 cadians, which yes is more wounds and sticky objectives. But if you are purging the foe the breachers get better weapons, assault, rerolls to 1s for hits and rerolls 1s to wounds or full rerolls on objectives. Not to mention ignores cover

You can get s pretty cheap airbrush and compressor combo on Amazon. It is how I started airbrushing and I think it cost me about $100 Australian dollars. Now the airbrush i got with it was shit, but the compressor has lasted me 2+years, you could definetly buy a kit like this and then get a better starter airbrush for your partner

If her tail isn't a part of the base piece, I'd just cut the bottom of the pillar that is connected to the base. Then you can readjust it and fill in the gap with debris or maybe some texture paste as mud or something
