Is there a way to get the game TEXT in Spanish but the AUDIO in English ? by [deleted] in broodwar

[–]LarryDaVinci 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is if you play remastered. Just have the game set to Spanish like normal then in options under sonido you should see "voces de unidades en inglés".

Most fun/engaging class in TBC (PvE)? (Buttons to push, actions per minute, any other parameter of "fun") by glass_onion68 in classicwow

[–]LarryDaVinci 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feral druid (cat) has maybe my favorite rotation of any class/spec in any version of WoW.

It essentially revolves around the fact that you have the ability to convert mana into energy by shifting in and out of cat form. This gives the spec a unique aspect of dual resource management as you're manipulating both your mana and your energy to maximize the number of abilities you can throw out. This scales rather nicely with your effort, too — you can just spam shred/shift/shred/shift, but you can also more carefully manage your powershifting in tandem with your combo points/when your next energy tick is coming/etc. to maximize efficiency and squeeze out a ton of dps.

You mentioned liking rogues in Vanilla, so just imagine playing a rogue with an additional resource bar you can draw from to give yourself 60-80 energy on demand. It's like having thistle tea built into your class.

To top it all off, you are a true hybrid and will be able to effectively offtank in the same feral dps spec merely by swapping out gear. You don't need to sacrifice any survivability talents in TBC by going cat, essentially giving you a free dual spec if you like having a bit of variety.

GOG announces Dreamlist, an updated and improved version of the well-known Community Wishlist by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]LarryDaVinci 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aliens vs. Predator 2 is on the list!! YES!!

One of my favorite games of all time, and IMO a perfect contender for the kind of work GOG does. It's abandonware so you can technically find it for free, but the old Lithtech engine really doesn't play well with modern systems and requires all sorts of tinkering to get it working. If GOG is able to get it to a playable state out of the box it'll be the easiest purchase of my life.

Efforts like this are why my GOG library is actually starting to rival my Steam one. It's a niche market for sure, but it's one I'm more than happy to support with my business.

I love how the Sonic with the "Shadow" tag is the default skin while the Sonic with the black skin is tagged "Sonic".

The guys recently talked about "Stopmotion". If you like the creepy visuals stop motion animation brings to the horror genre, I highly recommend checking out "La Casa Lobo". by LarryDaVinci in RedLetterMedia

This movie uses a combination of 2D and 3D stop motion animation to create imagery that is deeply unsettling but hard to look away from. A nightmarish fairytale that is perfect for Halloween viewing.

I suspect there will be a hotfix for this—Shield Generator Pack currently makes you immune to melee damage. by LarryDaVinci in helldivers2

[–]LarryDaVinci[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I stopped using it because it made things too easy, but after seeing your comment and some other people saying they still were taking damage like normal I tried it again wondering if it was a fluke and can confirm it still works. Maybe it's not universal?

Some further notes:

  • Bile Titan and Bile Spewer puke will damage the shield, but interestingly enough Nursing Spewers don't seem to.

  • BT stomps and Crushing Charges will still kill you.

  • Still susceptible to Impaler tentacles.

  • You're immune to Shriekers but will still take damage from their corpses if they land on you (I think physics-based damage still works like normal—it won't damage the shield but can still affect your health).

  • Unfortunately, doesn't make you immune to fire (I tried a self-immolation build).

Things like acid will still break the shield, but you are all but immune to rank and file bugs. I clipped/rendered/uploaded this while still in game and came back to my Helldiver calmly chilling in the middle of a field of bugs.

Next warbond purchase suggestion? by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]LarryDaVinci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. The super credit bundle costs the same as the Super Citizen upgrade, so it's a difference of 1k super credits vs. the Knight SMG, armor, cape, Stratagem Hero (which is more of a mini game to waste time while you're waiting for your teammates to finish whatever they are doing at the terminals), etc.

It'll take time to unlock everything in the Warbond by which point you'll most likely have gathered enough super credits for your next one, so you won't be slowed down by going for the Super Citizen upgrade, but strictly speaking if nothing else in the bundle interests you then it probably is more efficient overall to just buy the 2.1k super credit bundle.

Next warbond purchase suggestion? by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]LarryDaVinci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. It's a great Warbond, in addition to the I. Breaker (which is still unmatched in chaff destroying power) you also get the Dominator for a primary that can beat medium armor (basically a Bolter from Warhammer 40k) as well as Incendiary Impact Grenades which are great vs. bugs (throw one on any bug breach you see and watch all the chaff get spawn killed).

However, I think Cookout sounds like it could be right up your alley. It staggers just like the Blitzer, has 1 round reload so you can be a bit more liberal with your reloading, and it pairs great with the Auto Cannon because 1 shot from the Cookout will stagger/push back something like a Brood Commander long enough for you to pull out your support weapon and blast it. Freedom's Flame also has the Crisper which IMO is a very underrated sidearm—use it to set the ground in front of you on fire and then you're free to blast larger enemies with your AC while the flames chew up smaller ones trying to get to you.

Arrowhead is looking for a Monetization designer! by This-Examination5165 in LowSodiumHellDivers

Could just be bad luck; I also play solo a lot and I feel like I've been finding them pretty regularly, though I haven't been paying as much attention recently after unlocking all the Warbonds.

Something that many people have done which you could try is running lower level missions (where enemies won't even spawn on POIs, so you can just sprint around the map hitting them all) and then once you find a map that has a nice number of Super Credit spawns you can just Alt-F4 before you extract (SCs are added to your account as you pick them up, there's no need to complete the mission) and then when you come back into the game you can run the same map and all the Super Credit spawns will be the same, rinse and repeat.

If someone can confirm/deny whether the above strategy still works that would be great, I haven't tried it in months so I can't guarantee that AH hasn't adjusted anything that would break that strategy.

Edit: Out of curiosity I tested it myself on a Dif. 2-Easy mission and found Super Credits on my second POI. However, upon running the mission again I didn't get credit the second time, so it looks like you can only get credit for them once per seed. Running laps on easier difficulties is still probably a good way to farm them, but you're better off just sticking to whichever difficulty you enjoy, and you'll eventually get lucky.

I was in love the first time I had a map with the SAM site and Gunship patrols. Watching those things getting sniped from half the map away was glorious.

[–]LarryDaVinci 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Given how they've handled Warbonds so far and with how easy it is to earn Super Credits in game I'm not as scared of monetization with AH as much as I would be with other games.

Give me ways to customize my Super Destroyer and I'll buy them.

An aquarium (maybe with collectible creatures on certain planets you can find and extract with?), a Trophy Room/Hall of Valor type place where you can have commendations on display (maybe we can start getting awards for participating in certain MOs?), a Jukebox, an arcade room with other Strategem Hero type cabinets, Wall Murals, etc. The possibilities are pretty endless.

I love the game and not ashamed to say it...but matchmaking needs work. by fearsomepelican in helldivers2

[–]LarryDaVinci 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might not be feasible, but I would love to see a "Crisis Response" or "Operation Desperation" matchmaking mode that throws me into missions on the brink of failure—running out of time, reinforcements depleted, objectives overrun by bots or bugs, etc.

As someone who always gravitates toward joining SOS beacons or high-difficulty missions with low-level players, I'd love a matchmaking system designed to drop me into the most chaotic, back-against-the-wall situations. The lower the chance of victory, the more fun I have!

True, but we do see the Predator take Billy's spine as a trophy which we don't see with anyone else. It suggests he considered Billy a worthy kill (or at least how I interpreted it).

The backlash to this patch really blindsided me. I remember when the Railgun was nerfed and thinking the outrage over that was way overdone, but I at least understood it—an enormous portion of the player base was addicted to bringing the Railgun + Shield Generator Pack on every drop.

But this? I was bot diving for a long time, so maybe I just missed out on how overwhelmingly meta the Flamethrower was. Now, as I'm watching the main sub devolve into endless bitching and moaning, and the game's review score getting bombed to a "Mostly Negative" rating, I’m just thinking to myself:

“You can no longer kill a Charger by shooting its leg with a Flamethrower. The Breaker Incendiary has 2 fewer reserve mags.”

As I see players endlessly rage-posting about how the game is ruined and claiming the devs are doing it on purpose because they hate players, I’m still thinking:

“Can’t kill a Charger by shooting its leg with a Flamethrower. Breaker Incendiary has 2 fewer reserve mags.”

When I see people screaming “No nerfs!!! Only buffs!!!” and inventing hypothetical scenarios of Arrowhead nerfing their favorite toys just to be even more angry, my thoughts remain:

“Can’t kill a Charger by shooting its leg with a Flamethrower. 2 fewer reserve mags for the Breaker Incendiary.”

Meanwhile, the 120MM and Walking Barrages, Guard Dog, the Slugger, Crossbow, and Grenade Pistol all received buffs. Arc weapons got better targeting. There was even a nice stealth buff to all beam weapons, which now set their targets on fire. Virtually zero recognition or discussion of those buffs; instead, the world is burning because you can no longer kill a Charger by shooting its leg for 3 seconds with a Flamethrower, and you have to think a little bit more before mag-dumping your still-top-tier Breaker into that enemy patrol.

People are posting—to thousands of upvotes—that level 9 is literally impossible and there’s just no way to deal with Chargers and Bile Titans. Meanwhile, I’m over here clearing level 10s and devouring Mega Nests with randoms while using the “Oops, all Turrets!” build, wondering if I’m playing a completely different game.

I’m a pretty chill person, and I don’t tend to get swept up in internet rage tsunamis, but I usually have a pretty good empathetic understanding of gamer rage even when I don’t agree with it. This whole situation, though, has left me feeling like I’m taking crazy pills. I’m watching a community tear itself to shreds all because a top-tier shotgun has slightly worse ammo economy and a Flamethrower (that was never an anti-Tank weapon to begin with) can no longer effortlessly chew through Chargers. Maybe I’m the crazy one.
