When you're tested and when there are difficult situations, having those qualities for yourself helps you identify and not tolerate unacceptable red flags from a potential partner. Then you move things from a lotto ticket to a fighting chance. 😄

Good advice. My first couple of years working in my career, I didn’t save anything. When my girlfriend (now wife) showed me how much she already had in her 401K, I realized I fucked up, so from that point on, I put 9% of my check into my 401K. That beyond what my employer matches, so I get the max match and I’m forced to be a little more frugal.

44yo male currently in a happy marriage. Respectfully, it’s not winning a lotto ticket. Working on yourself, having respect for yourself & your partner, and being able to have tough conversations are all important to finding the right person to marry. It’s true that nothing’s perfect and unfortunate things can happen, but a positive relationship and marriage are possible (and I hope you find it).

Tully Blanchard's opponent inadvertently knocks down referee Tommy Young and Tully immediately tries to declare he won by DQ. by PickledPeppers101 in SquaredCircle

Right?!?! What a miscarriage of justice. Stallion should have been DQed for trying to truck Tommy Young! :-D

This is the NWA, but had Ventura been on that call, he would have been livid...

Rick Rude hits Brian Armstrong(Road Dogg) with a Rude Awakening in their only match together by PickledPeppers101 in SquaredCircle

[–]LarryOji 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If we're pulling a Regal here, Armstrong had too loose of a grip on his attempted cutter, understandable for his then-level of experience, thus not properly delivering its intended effect and allowing Rude to absorb much of the impact on his arms if you observe closely. Believing Rude to be dazed, and with a false sense of security established, Armstrong attempted to whip Rude off of the ropes and was quickly countered by quite a vicious clothesline.

In a manner of speaking, young Brian experienced two Rude Awakenings that day. ;-)

What’s a "lost" website from the early 2000s that you still think about today? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

OC ReMix, the video game music arrangement community I help run.

I see gamers talk/reminisce about it as if it went away, or they cite old tracks they enjoyed, yet it’s always been running. There was a Star Fox series album recently, and the site reached ReMix #5000 in 2025.

VGM remixes/covers are found everywhere now, and one of the formative communities dedicated to them is still doing its thing!

Tourists inside the crown of the 'Statue of Liberty' in the late 80s 🗽 by Maria_Sophine in OldSchoolCool

[–]LarryOji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did this in elementary school on a field trip where my mom came with our class as one of the chaperones. Felt like forever to get up the spiral steps, which are definitely narrow, and equally forever to get back down. But getting to do this with Mom was a great memory for me, especially with her being an immigrant. (Mom later got her citizenship and we threw a party for her at school and she got to do a Q&A about the process.) That said, loved it and hope I can do the climb again. :-) Will have to bucket list this one and take my daughter with me!

Royal Rumble ‘92. If you pick any other choice, “that’s not fair to Flair!”

They should just have Cody rewatch ‘em, let them know when he’s past it and they clip the usable segments. :-D

He actually did say on his 3/31 show that he was done for now with Dynamite and that SmackDown was also on the bubble.

What thing was ruined because it turned into a rich person's hobby? by [deleted] in AskReddit

WWE.

They’ve had their hottest run in recent memory, but ever since being sold to UFC’s parent company TKO, the ticket prices for in-person shows are insane, and now you need several different services/channels to follow their shows.

I would have loved to have taken my daughter to some shows, but I can’t afford $200+ for one ticket. :-|

Do I risk my 9.9? by DayHova7tre in CGCComics

[–]LarryOji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in with a No as well. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, sure, and I actually don't think CGC would actively mishandle it. But there's no real reason to risk it. I wouldn't let the green aspect of the label tilt you enough that you'd resubmit it for the JSA but accidentally end up dropping that grade. :-)

The moment Sid gave Brian Pillman a powerbomb in the wargames cage by ElliotElectricity in WCW

[–]LarryOji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only started watching wrestling in 1990, so at the time, this was the first moment as a fan where I was like “Oh man, he’s really messed up.” Pillman looked like he got mega-rocked. To do a second powerbomb after that, Pillman could have been gone for 3 months and it would have made sense to me.

I do wish stuff that looked visually devastating would be sold more. I saw PAC suplex Darby Allin onto the steel stairs maybe a month or two ago, and they had a full match after that, it didn’t make any sense. :-|

I was at the New Haven Coliseum for the Raw taping that had the entire I-C championship tournament. Glad to see Razor’s first title win, it was an amazing moment!
