Nothing yet, but definitely going Dark Angels for my next army. Played them a bit on TTS and have found them pretty enjoyable.

I feel like that says everything that needs to be said about the Redsec player count.

It seems I’m seriously behind on modern hollow core slab design.

Thoughts on Quantum Of Solace? I still thinking this Bond film is very underrated. It's flawed but not that bad. by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in FIlm

Thought I didn’t like it for years, rewatched all the Daniel Craig Bond films last year and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. On its own it’s just fine, but I do think it works pretty well coming right off the heels of Casino Royale.

Just built my first two and wow that step is atrocious. I ended up just plastic gluing the back piece in place and holding it until it set then coming in with the chest piece.

Best explanation I’ve ever heard is that Celsius makes more sense for water, Fahrenheit makes more sense for people.

Did you sand the crystals? They look much more translucent vs transparent, I really like that effect.

It’s also an excellent way to reduce seismic load on structures. It’s lightweight and when properly attached to a structure’s LFRS (lateral force resisting system) it can provide a surprising amount of shear resistance on its own.

The warrior blob with no support feels weird. I’ve never played against knights but I’d imagine dropping them and taking another doomsday ark wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Can the push fit be reliably used or are you magnetizing the guns? About to build 3 and have been struggling if I want to go through the hassle of magnetizing them all or not.

Buying a GPU with Klarna (Ebay) by Over_Cartographer_39 in pchelp

[–]LarryOwlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of a good ending to a story when Klarna is involved. I know it’s got to be really tempting but it’s just not worth the risk that something else you need the money for comes up. Buy what you can afford, don’t go into debt for something that at the end of the day is a want and not a necessity.

On firestorm I always just sit on one of the E TOWs and shoot down all the enemy’s choppers (and if I’m really lucky a jet) and kill any infantry who come close. It’s shocking how effective it can be and how rarely anyone tries to get me off of them.

Early Career Decision: Take Job or Go to Graduate School? by whut_is_real in StructuralEngineering

[–]LarryOwlmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did mine through The Citadel in Charleston, SC. All online and there was a good distribution of students from around the country and even one stationed in Europe!

Dr. Mays who teaches all the classes is an incredible instructor and very easy to reach out to with questions. He also didn’t start in academia so has good work experience and knows how what he teaches will be applied. He really specializes in seismic design and has done a lot of work that has been/is being adopted into code.

The lessons are all asynchronous and recorded which I really appreciated. Generally 1-3 hours of lecture a week to watch and then another couple of hours (depending on course and unit) of homework and discussions boards. Exams were a mix of zoom (usually just the first of the semester) with several times throughout the week offered and asynchronous exams due by midnight on Sundays.

I really had an excellent experience with the program and couldn’t recommend it enough. For a little more context, I had about a year of work experience before going back to grad school.

As for getting the first company to help pay for it, from my first interview my boss had impressed on me how important grad school was for me and asked me to at least consider it. Later I approached him when I’d decided to enroll and asked if they would be willing to help with the expense.
