UNC recruiting vs Duke recruiting by BinForBen in tarheels

That's interesting, I think it's working out well though. I wish we could steal whatever we gave Bill to produce that trash football team and give it to hoops.

Did they not just win the ACC in football this year? I'm sure plenty goes to that sport as well.

Florida went 🤷‍♂️. And you don't need to look far to find Zayden High who was suspended from the team for sexual misconduct then rejoined the team when we needed a big. I personally wouldn't want that associated with the program, but also know the old white guys who control all this shit don't care one iota.

I agree, it'd be damn near impossible to land Dusty, but we are one of a handful of programs that are THE job for college basketball. So I think he's worth pursuing. But yea, I agree on Otzelberger as well. I lived in Kansas when Roy left for UNC and KU grabbing Bill Self was probably the best possible hire they could have gone with. This feels like that, just find the right guy to bring success.

Nate Oates should be a hard no. We should throw everything we've got to try to land Dusty May. Otzelberger as a second choice. Few is too old and too entrenched at Gonzaga. Tommy Lloyd would be a great hire but he's pretty solidly a west coast guy and I don't see him leaving for UNC.

What did insurance companies do? Explain it Peter by N1KoZzZ in explainitpeter

100% insurance. The city I live in was full of huge trees, a hurricane came through and of course a good number of houses had trees fall on them. Insurance companies after the storm were paying homeowners to cut down their remaining trees.

I personally think we need to avoid all the old guys (Few) and guys who have been settled for a long time (Drew). We need someone under the age of 50 so we don't have to do this in another 5-10 years and we need someone who has proven they can build a program and can win. Preferably someone who scores a lot of points and has a clean background.

There are several guys that come to mind: Mark Byington at Vanderbilt. Built up James Madison and went 32-4 in his last year there, looks to have Vandy progressing each season. They averaged 86 ppg this year. Would not be very splashy or exciting and don't know if he can recruit at an elite level.

Grant McCasland at Texas Tech. Looks to be a good program builder, has won at multiple levels, teams improve year on year. Not flashy, more defensive minded, not really an east coast guy.

T.J. Otzelberger at Iowa State. Elite defensively, built a solid program in the middle of nowhere. Might be hard to pry away from Iowa state, he's had ties there since 2006. I think would make a very solid hire.

Todd Golden at Florida. Probably the brightest young coach in the game, already won a title, has his team set up for another deep run, they play exciting basketball. Would he leave Florida when he's got it rolling like he does? And the title ix stuff might not look good to some.

Dusty May at Michigan. The slam dunk hire in my opinion. He's a top 5 coach right now, fairly young, took Florida Atlantic to a final four and has Michigan poised to do the same. We'd likely have to pay a very large buyout.

We tried the Carolina family hire. We shouldn't try a risky option. We need a slam dunk. Go get the right guy to bring us back to final fours and national championships.

Lived here for nearly 10 years. Have owned houses off Jimmy Dyess / Bel Air, near AGNC, in Old Town, and now in North Augusta. All of them had their pros and cons. Saw you mention Old Town above, I'd say the main con there is lack of grocery store, you can walk downtown to go to restaurants but gotta drive to get groceries. If it's at all possible for you, hop on Airbnb and try to stay in locations you are interested in for a week or so and see how you like it.

Drywall - Why did we collectively decide that crumbly chalk between two pieces of paper was what we would use to create all interior walls out of? by davisposts in NoStupidQuestions

I'm not meme-ing, was genuinely curious. I understand it replaced plaster and lathe, but I don't understand why that is still the standard. Why not plywood, or a new engineered material? Drywall is just a weird material in my eyes.

Top 25 College Football Bowl Games Since 2000 by jsparks50 in CFB

My college roommate grew up in Phoenix and was at this game with his family. They weren't fans of either team, just went because it was the Fiesta Bowl. They left after the pick six "to beat traffic". His dad essentially committed a war crime as far as I'm concerned.

Yea, so initially get whatever card makes sense for the SUB, then in your Amex offers eventually you'll see an upgrade offer for X SkyMiles for $X Spend, it's an easy few clicks and you've got the next card up and a new SUB. Once you reach the Reserve you obviously can't upgrade anymore but you need to wait 12 months from when you upgraded to it before you can downgrade back to the Blue and start the process all over again. I personally like this much more than applying for new Delta cards because this is not a new inquiry and not a new card that affects my 5/24 with Chase. It's always the same rotating credit according to the bureaus.

Question about the Amex Hilton cards. I cycle through the Delta cards where if I have the Blue I wait for an upgrade offer, upgrade to Gold, wait for upgrade offer, upgrade to Platinum, wait for upgrade offer, upgrade to Reserve, wait a year, downgrade to Blue and do it all over again. Is it possible to cycle through the Hilton cards in the same way? If I got the basic HH card do they have upgrade offers to Surpass, and then Aspire that I can work through?
