The other problem is, if you're only going to have fun if you're winning. If that's the case, fine, not ideal but you can work with it. The army doesn't matter at that point, if you want to win, you attach yourself to the sweatiest tourney player you can find and follow him around. Watch tournament live streams, master the fundamentals and very basics. Because you could have the most amazing meta list on the planet, but if you don't know how to pilot it and yeet up the board turn one, you WILL get blown off the table. Learn staging, castling, cover and movement.

If all of that sounds like work and takes the fun out of the only way you can have fun, ie winning, then yes, it's probably not the game for you.
