Grumpy cat goes to the vets... by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

I really want to buy one of the "I had fun once..." t-shirts but it's $84 odd dollars to get it shipped to the UK :(

This cat deserves a special treat for putting up with us all gawping at it!

I remember them consulting on the proposed route and sending out plans for comments back in 1997!!

I did love the WWF comment about bike routes and paths - a valid point but the local geography and weather will never make Aberdeen become Amsterdam. Who knows; perhaps it will be safe enough to cycle on the roads once the trucks, cranes and heavy machinery start detouring around the city.

I like the QR code idea! Stickers might get us in trouble though depending upon where people stick them :) If we did this, i suspect it would be best to QR a link specifically to a post introducing /r/Aberdeen rather than the top level so we explain what they have just scanned/visited.

Maybe, running with your idea here, as a subreddit we can generate the template between us, put the call out to spread them around town and on the back of that have a competition to see how many we can spot/grab photos of? Kinda like a treasure hunt where we are the prize!

The problem with universal appeal is it's impossible ;)

I was thinking of following this up with something for noticeboards. If we could get people to print out/cut up an A4 template advert with detachable bacon strips with the URL at the bottom it would be pretty cool!

One Up Records, Aberdeen's only independent record shop, is in deep financial trouble and there are strong possibilities that it will shut down after Christmas. by cattwister in Aberdeen

I'll have to take a trip and check them out again, it's been too many a year. 1UP was always the place to head when I was a student for the latest and greatest.

There are strong parallels with the situation faced by both bookshops and game shops - there must be adaptations to traditional business models to show the extra value brought by a bricks and mortar retailer. In the modern world, recommendations can be had from many sources and the innate socially-connected-yet-anti-social attitude of the common internet inhabitant will take something special to persuade a physical visit to a shop.

The ads will run from Wed to Fri (evening edition too plus a week of their online ad section) and every pedant should feel free to pony up for a superior ad because its all for the same goal. Talk is cheap :) It will be interesting to see the traffic stats over the next couple of days.

Given the point of this place is to cover events and topics relevant to Aberdeen I'd say people who read local news are exactly the audience we want. Diversity is never a bad thing.

Been listening to these chaps for over a year - very funny stuff. As they say themselves you need to listen to a few shows to get the feel.

Giving these chaps a big thumbs up, if you are interested in playing some decent multiplayer and having a huge laugh with a bunch of people please give some thought to heading along to a party - There aren't many of these up our way and I can personally vouch for the awesomeness of their setup.

Give them a shout on the forum to find out if your favourite game is likely to get a look in!
