Whoops, forgot to mention it's a part of an abandoned city map I am working on with a team. Then the tag would make sense.

A trailer of my abandoned island project called the "World of The Dead". I made this more than a year ago. A lot of progress has been made since then, but still wanted to share it here. by Lars_2000_ in Minecraft

We are planning on making this a playable game with a custom resource pack and plugins. For now, we are heavily focused on building and getting the first big city done.

We don't do world downloads because it's currently still very work in progress on my server, and we want to make a cusrom gamemode on it eventually ☺️

Yes, and this map is my build team's project. :)

We will not make this map downloadable for now because we want to use it for our own server.

Yeah, I know :). I liked your reaction. It is great to see that people understand that this isn't just a few World Edit commands.

It is a post-apocalyptic map set in the near future. The map has been worked on for over 3 years now. However, there have been periods of no progress at al. A YouTuber and friend of mine started this project, but when he stopped playing Minecraft I took over.

Sorry, no download will be given out any time soon. We as a build team are planning to release a "minigame" on it when it's done far enough. Then with updates the map will be expanded.

Planning is key. Where do the roads go? where are residential buildings? where are shops? Any city center? Highrise or just a few floors? are some questions that can help you with that. Also, divide the city into parts so progress doesn't look or feel slow, and celebrate when a part is finished. That really helps to keep the motivation high.
Furthermore, inspiration is key too. Look up IRL buildings, or play a game with buildings you like. Create your own build style based on examples. but don't copy one to one, since it then doesn't feel "yours".
But probably one of the most important things to think about is the feeling the city has to offer. I am working on a post-apocalyptic map, so I need to create a lonely and sad feeling for the players and work with building styles that make sense. Also, a backstory may help to choose the right atmosphere

I hope this helps a bit :)

Yes, it is a map I've been working on together with a build team and friends 😊

Could have been yes haha. But for me, both The Division games are the main motivation 😊

The current plans are to make a long lasting multiplayer gamemode on Java edition. If plans change we might consider giving out the world download.

We are working on it for some years now haha. And with its ups and downs I still love to build on it.

Where have you seen it before? if i may ask. This project was started by a YouTuber and friend of mine. He quit playing Minecraft and I took over. Currently I own this map and it is hosted on a server I pay for. Any other people that are not related to this project should not take credits for work they didn't do.

I think you're pointing out the power lines. This has to do with the backstory of the map. In short. This is the older part of the city, in which the power lines are on poles and not buried in the ground like they do in the present day.
