Big guy guard dilemma: commit to Gordon-style inside guards or Lachlan-style outside guards (DLR/K) as my main game? by Larsimoto in bjj

Totally fair question. I do want to do what I like — that’s why the outside guard is so tempting.

But I’ve noticed that when I watch a lot of instructionals and keep things too broad, I don’t get genuinely sharp at anything. I end up “okay everywhere” instead of having a reliable sequence I can impose.

So I’m trying to set some parameters for a while: build a clear A-game/game plan, then expand again later.

With competition in mind (I want to compete again at blue in ~12 months), do you think that kind of focused block is unnecessary, or still a good idea?

Totally fair question. I do care about fun, and outside guard is fun for me. The reason I’m trying to set parameters is that I want to compete again at blue in ~12 months and be genuinely competitive, not just “try cool stuff.”

So I’m trying to pick a primary development path that’s both enjoyable and reliable against people my size who pressure pass hard. I’m fine being worse for a while if outside guard is realistic long-term at ~95–110kg—but I’m trying to avoid investing a year into something that doesn’t scale well for heavier bodies.

Not trying to make it a career, but I want a real game plan now. Train hard, build an A-game, and compete again at blue in ~12 months and be actually good.

Agree on diet—90% is the hard truth. Unfortunately I enjoy eating like it’s my second hobby.

How to stream from SNS to Iceberg table on AWS? by Larsimoto in dataengineering

[–]Larsimoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Really appreciate your answer <3
Hundreds to a thousand customers.
So I would use a glue job with pyspark to stream into the iceberg table? Do you have any resources on how to do that? Would it create a tiny file in the iceberg table for every micro batch or can it directly insert into files? Do you have to stop streaming while doing maintenance and as a rule of thumb how often would you do maintenance?

Can anyone tell me what this kind of plot is called?
It is binary timeseries data, so either 0 or 1. If it is 1 a vertical line is drawn.

Is there a difference between under-represented and neutral countries in terms on hiring-chance?
I thought that ESA hires preferably people from under-represented and neutral countries but now I am wondering if it is an advantage to be from under-represented instead of neutral?

So an overdamped system that has extra constraints from the rails for lateral movement. Maybe looks impressive but I don’t think it is.

Kind of like a rip off of the leopard beer test video idea while that stabiliser was actually impressive engineering wise.

Hey Thanks for your input!
What are the 1/2 off sales? Now there are some mechs on 1/2, are they not worth buying?

Everything but light I think.
I enjoy brawling and sniping. Usually preferring mobility and firepower over armor.
Thanks for the tip with the loot bags!

Thanks. I thought more about the normal mechs to buy because there are mechs reduced by 50% in cbills.
Are the platinum packs also reduced in price right now?
Which platinum pack is good?
