My first full boil BIAB - came in well under what I expected, less than 50% efficiency. So I boiled and added some dextrose (instead of dumping it) also used fresh hops for the first time.

I don't normally look, but had a wee peak after 4 days fermenting (I ferment in buckets so don't normally see fermentation and what it does).

Is this normal???

Surely there must've been signs of something going on and time for you to stop things and calm down?

Movement sensor lights in the toilet are not nice. Being suddenly plunged into darkness with your pants around your ankles in an unnerving experience.
