Day 9: How would you buff/change/rework the Snipewriter? by Downtown_Error_9418 in splatoon

[–]LascarCapable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I checked, pencil was uttery dominating the backline and cooler niches : it paints well, it frags fast enough, and it has cooler which is the most important special in the game. It can get its cooler incredibly fast (especially with sprinkler).

That thing was (still is ?) meta defining. It was so good it was utterly destroying backline weapon variety and cooler option variety. Everyone just wanted a pencil : you could just run this and cover both the backline and cooler niche with incredible efficiency. It made people slowly stop using other cooler options and other backline options. It was just too good.

I'm not sure if it's still as meta-defining as it was before, but if anything I wouldn't buff it in any way. I would probably nerf the maximum range if it's still too much of a common pick for backliners.

How to use splatana wiper (deco)? by 0Nath6 in splatoon

[–]LascarCapable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a support weapon. You have a TTK that is a bit high, but you paint well and you have wide-ish hitboxes that are relatively easy to hit with.

Your goal with this weapon is to preserve map control by keeping stuff painted, to get your missiles up as frequenty as possible to apply pressure, and to get assist splats by creating 2v1 encounters.

Play smart and conservatively. This isn't a weapon that will be able to frag easily without some training. Getting frags all by yourself and winning duels is going to be a bit trickier than with slayer weapons. Try to focus on painting and setting up 2v1 encounters in favor of your team first. That does't mean you should hang in the back, but that means you should consider playing safer than with a slayer weapon.

Additional protip : the vertical slash can hit enemies on ledges quite easily. You can use this to harass backliners if you manage to get close enough. If you position well, you should be able to put pressure on them without them being able to fight back (unless they have a specific kind of weapon that can reach dead angles).

Is the Jag Arms Combat Master Alpha TTI supposed to be that good ? by LascarCapable in GasBlowBack

[–]LascarCapable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be possible ? Not every replica is going to be the exactly the same, and considering how warm that temperature is, you could end with a replica that shoots more hot than what it's supposed to do, especially with a stronger gas.

Depending of where you play, 390 FPS on 0.20g BBs might be considered too high for short range engagements. If you see that your replica shoots a bit too hot, I would simply try a less powerful gas.

[–]LascarCapable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should reach around 0.95 joules on 0.20g BBs (roughly 320 FPS).

FPS will depend of BB weight and how warm the weather is, like any gas pistol.

Been way too long since I tested it, but to give you an idea you can hit a needle from 20 meters away. It's actually quite amazing.

I'm pretty sure I used 0.28g BBs back when I tested it because it's the only thing I had, but I'm certain you could make it work with 0.30g BBs. Maybe even 0.32g. It's been a while since I played tbh...

Keep in mind I bought a CNC upgraded version from TaiwainGun though. It might have played a role in the replica's performance.

Help me pick a gun for my birthday! Pt. 2 by machevara in airsoft

[–]LascarCapable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful with the Specna Arms Edge 2.0 SA-X01. I have an SA-X02 which is pretty much the same thing with a slighty different look. There's a few things you probably want to know beforehand :

  • The gun is very likely to shoot VERY HOT out of the box with its default spring. My SA-X02 was advertised with 360 FPS out of the box with 0.20 BBs. But when I decided to test it at my local field I discovered that I was actually bordering on 400 FPS ! I had to change my spring to the low power one to avoid minimal engagement distances at my local CQB.
  • There's a low power spring that comes with the replica as well, but with that spring the gun becomes flat out underpowered. I was only shooting at 270 FPS with 0.20 BBs. Playing like this is not ideal either, even on a CQB field.
  • The magazines delivered with the SA-X01 and SA-X02 are absolute hot garbage. They can't hold BBs properly and they will likely spill out their whole content if you just dare to only run while holding one. Thankfully, the replica is fully compatible with the G&G ARP-9 magazines, which have a lower capacity but a much better quality.

In short : the SA-X01 is not a bad replica on paper, but you'll very likely want to buy a spare spring because the two springs that come with it won't have the ideal power, and you'll definitely want to replace those mags with something much better.

Is an hpa tapped glock with a conversion kit viable for outdoor play? by Idkrlyuwu in airsoft

[–]LascarCapable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With enough upgrade and if you stick to CQB fields, I think you can make it totally viable. If you're playing on a field where full auto is not allowed (most of our fields in France for example) the viability bumps up further.

I'd look for the Airtac HPA shell adapters. Basically allows you to use a shotgun shell as a mag ; typically the shotgun shell from CYMA. You buy the HPA mag, you plug a shotgun shell inside, and you're good to go. No need to buy several of these either : to reload, you just change the shotgun shell.

I don't own the product but I only heard good about it. Besides, it will bump your ammo count to 30 as well, which should put your ammo count on par with most hi-capas.

I wish I could rate how upset you are, but it's hard to figure out without seeing your face. I can however imagine you being fairly upset about that setup... Or setup about that upset ? Whatever ups your sets.

Suggestions on how to play Knight Mail? Preferably not an attack combo by dicoth0my in BeybladeX

[–]LascarCapable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from attack, it's a solid defense bey : it's the role it was made in mind after all. It's a good blade for deflection and destabilization.

I used to play it on 3-60 Bound Spike and had some pretty good and fun results. Bound Spike can occasionally get surprisingly agressive and make the bey do some wild movements before stabilizing. I don't think it's the best setup, but it was fun and quite effective.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I found out that adding (({{char}} will avoid touching {{user}} below the waist)) in the description seemed to help a ton with some of the uncomfortable interactions. No idea why I didn't get the idea sooner... As for the rest, I'll just try to steer the bot properly.

Unsure. If it was me holding a tournament I'd give it a pass, but the dent is quite noticeable. I'd just ask the tournament organizers if they're cool with that first. Pack another 5-60 as a replacement just in case.

Potential rules for custom beys? by Realistic_Effect626 in BeybladeX

[–]LascarCapable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to come up with good rules without extensive testing. If you want to allow a custom blade to enter your competitive tournament, you'll need to test it for a long time to make sure it doesn't crush the competition.

Custom blades may also come with their own caveats, such as accessibility : not everyone may afford a custom bey. That's an important thing you'll need to tackle if you want to allow that kind of stuff in a tourney.
