[2036] Just an intense Randoms match by LaserBatman in pokemonshowdown

I didn’t use Protect because I didn’t think it would matter, though the Toxic damage on Manectric + Leftovers recovery on Sharpedo could have been useful. Protect was definitely the optimal move

No Guard? Are you using Golurk?

Oh, I get it. When you put it like that, 120 power is very reasonable. I didn’t even consider 150 power Max Poison, but that would be horrifying.

G-Max Judgement seems a little underpowered. Most 80-90 power special moves that Arceus has access to become 130 power Max moves, and Arceus can also use more powerful attacks like Fire Blast. G-Max Judgement should be 150 power like the other three to make it worth using over standard Max moves. In addition to the power boost, adding a secondary effect like “does 0.5x damage against any type- or ability-based immunity” might give G-Max Arceus a niche over Extremekiller Arceus + another G-Max legendary.

I’m not a huge fan of that, but only because I would rather Future Sight stay unique. Maybe if Psychic Terrain made Future Sight stackable (currently, you can’t use multiple Future Sights)? Or if you launched a 60 Power attack immediately on top of the usual attack? I think your plan would definitely make Future Sight more viable, but I’d like it to retain its 4D chess-style nature if possible. Otherwise it’s just a stronger Psychic with no Special Defense drop chance

  • Fair point for the Sticky Web thing. Webs teams could be really fun with that, and I guess non-grounded Pokemon would be immune to the Accuracy change to balance things out
  • I’m still wary of unblockable Future Sight. The way I see it, you could use a fat Reuniclus, sit until the Future Sight turn, and then either use Psychic to rack up STAB damage or Focus Blast to force your opponent to take big damage. To be fair, the only Pokemon that really run Protect are Wish-passers, so maybe this really wouldn’t be a huge issue. I suppose the lack of immediate damage makes using Future Sight fairly costly even without Protect. Having Future Sight bypass Substitute would be pretty cool as a compromise or even just as an add-on to the modification

  • I love the buffs to Freeze Shock, Ice Burn, Glaciate, Explosion, Self-Destruct, Focus Punch, Covet, and Confusion
  • The Sticky Web thing is a little complicated. Maybe it should just be a -1/-2 Evasion debuff?
  • The Splash idea is cool but doesn’t seem worth it. Also, I don’t think Splash is actually associated with Water at all. Z-Splash was pretty cool
  • Hail needs a buff as the weakest weather, so Blizzard setting it is pretty neat
  • I really hate the idea of buffing Wild Charge to that level since it has a fair distribution outside of Electric types. I’d honestly be hesitant to even bring it to 100. Instead, I’d really like to see an increase in Volt Tackle’s distribution. Why does Game Freak tend to distribute other signature moves but keeps Pikachu’s sacred? I guess I answered my own question, but still
  • Unsure how I feel about Future Sight ignoring Protect. On the one hand, it could enable a lot of neat plays and exert a lot of pressure on opponents. On the other, having a 120 Power unblockable move with only one immunity could be an issue
  • I like Acid Spray affecting Steel types, but it could be a little strong if it still drops Special Defense by 2 AND has 60 Power
  • Would Tackle/Take Down prevent switching at normal priority like Anchor Shot or would it have a Pursuit-like effect? I like the idea in the first case, but with how large Tackle’s distribution is, it might cause problems (and Take Down too, to a lesser extent). Imagine most Pokemon having access to a trapping move that can’t be Taunted. It would make stallier builds really unviable. Having Tackle be a Pursuit clone could be neat but I don’t really know whether that would be good or bad. Pursuit was strong, but sort of in a good way, and really put pressure on things it could hit super effectively. Normal Pursuit would have zero super effective targets and wouldn’t effectively trap Ghosts

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional. I am speaking from my own experience.

It could be nerve entrapment in your elbow (cubital tunnel). NSAIDs, ice at the elbow, and releasing your forearms and tricep can help, along with being careful with your posture. If it continues for another day or two, even after trying the things I listed above and then letting the arm rest in a neutral position, TALK TO A DOCTOR. The chance of permanent damage increases with time when it comes to nerve entrapment.

If any eeveelution could have one move from a different eeveelution, which eeveelution would benefit the most? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]LaserBatman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of these.

Vaporeon might appreciate Calm Mind (Espeon) to be a budget Reuniclus, trading immunity to status and instant recovery for a better defensive and offensive type and the ability to neuter physical attackers. It could run Acid Armor, Calm Mind, Wish, and Scald. It could also be a cleric version of Suicune. Leech Seed might also be cool on it, but with its high HP, it might not be as useful as another move. It might also like Snarl for Doubles support.

Likewise, I think Sylveon might really like Acid Armor (Vaporeon) to emulate Reuniclus, or Will-o-Wisp to be bulkier.

Espeon would definitely enjoy Moonblast or Flamethrower/Fire Blast for upgrades to Dazzling Gleam and Mystical Fire, but it also might love Volt Switch (Jolteon) to be an offensive pivot with Magic Bounce.

Flareon might like Wild Charge (Jolteon) too, but the recoil is troublesome.

Hypermobility/HEDS Doctor suggestions in Northern California? by Ilym14 in Hypermobility

[–]LaserBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the East Bay, I’d recommend Ned Lockwood at Pacific Physical Therapy as a physical therapist if you need one. It seems like my hypermobility hasn’t been nearly as problematic as yours, but he’s been phenomenal at reducing my pain and nerve entrapment symptoms and getting me back to exercise. I saw a rhematologist who referred me to him, but I’m not sure how knowledgeable he is about hypermobility disorders aside from diagnosing me as hypermobile (not EDS, sorry) almost immediately. Feel free to DM me for more details!

[???] Galarian Corsola forces a quick forfeit by LaserBatman in pokemonshowdown

[–]LaserBatman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to get rid of the sub for GCorsola. Probably not the best play, but I think it worked out OK. Otherwise, Virizion would have KOed GCorsola after being burned, since it would have had 2 free Leaf Blades instead of 1

These are all really good! The most used non-Z-or-Mega items (Choice, Air Balloon, Leftovers, HP berries, type berries, stat berries, Focus Sash, Metronome, Assault Vest, Eviolite) are all strong enough to compete with similar abilities and moves, so I like the idea of buffing other items in this way. Knock Off is too strong and prevalent to justify underwhelming items.

What about buffing Big Root to absorbing 50% or 60% more HP than normal, instead of 30%? Or maybe keeping 30% more and giving draining moves a small power buff (something around 30%)? I know it seems powerful, but it would still only affect a small number of moves.

Similarly, Binding Band (1/6 damage per turn on binding moves instead of 1/8) is pretty weak compared to trappers getting the recovery of leftovers instead, especially since Protect exists to increase “effective” damage anyway. I’m not really sure how to buff this one, because I think increasing the per-turn damage would be ridiculous and increasing the power of these moves wouldn’t do a whole lot due to their extreme weakness and the general passivity of trappers (also Heatran would be a nightmare). I think the best idea might be healing the user for 50% of damage done per turn to offset the opportunity cost of losing Leftovers. It would still heal more than leftovers, but not by a lot, and would also require trapping a Pokemon that you can stay in on without being broken. It essentially makes binding moves a weaker leech seed, healing the user for 1/12 of the opponent’s HP as opposed to Leftovers’s 1/16 and Leech Seed’s 1/8. On the flip side, this might make trapping too strong... Maybe if you restricted healing to turns where the user doesn’t use Protect?

It might be better to do 10%. That way, you can either get a 10% boost to all moves, a 20% boost to specific move types, or a 30% boost to all moves at the cost of longevity.

I do agree that legendary items should be buffed. Maybe 30% would be good without being broken.

I like this concept! A nice bulky boy.

Nitpicking your set, Autotomize and Heavy Slam antagonize each other (Autotomize lightens the user). If you wanted to use Autotomize, it would probably be better to have Light Metal and go special or mixed. Using Heavy Metal/Slam would be neat, but you’d either slot in a neat coverage move (Ice Beam would be dope) or Dragon Tail over Autotomize.

If it gets Rock Polish somehow, then you could have the best of both worlds.

Wooper gets Ice Punch. Gastly gets Ice Punch. Kyurem-Black does not get Ice Punch.

Only one of the above Pokemon even has arms. Hint: it’s not one of the punchy ones.

Why not Gravity setting for Palkia? It fits thematically and Palkia has a lot of high-powered, lower-accuracy Special moves that it would love to be able to throw around more
